This is a summary of the MSU iReX event that is an acronym for Management

& Science University idea Regeneration eXpo that offered interactive exhibitions,
creative ideas and dense informative program by providing unforgettable experience for
both exhibitors and visitors. The “Idea Re-generation” means anyone regardless of
areas have the opportunities to re-generate or recreate the old & traditional thinking into
a new, creative and innovative idea or products. This event will help in the future
practical life and bring positive change in thinking and practical behavior regarding
education and specializing the student’s skills.
Management and Science Faculty of Information and Science Department had
organized the event and the event took place in the Chancellor Hall at MSU Shah Alam
Campus for two days of project exposition, from 9.00am to 5.00pm on May 15th to 16th,
2018 for the Graphic & Multimedia, Engineering & Technology and Information Science
& Computing departments to showcase the projects they have done. On the last day at
the end of the event, Professor Tan Sri Dato' Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid came to
give a speech and handing the award to students for the best project. The objective are
to let students learn about the practical process of documentation in their final year
project and have a brief overlook of the working environment such as proper handling
and presenting ourselves to future employers.
The Bluetooth automated gate system is a project carried out by a Bachelor
in Computer Engineering student, Mohamad Aniq Amizan (012013110634) from the
Faculty of Information Science and Engineering department. The objective is to
provide an alternate and wireless means of accessing, opening and closing of a gate.
This project combines both software and hardware development by the student in
constructing a circuit with a Bluetooth module and building an app to control the
servo motor while providing reliability to the user. This project is mainly focused on
developing and implementing a Bluetooth automated gate access system that will
increase convenience and security.
The system is based on an application as the front end, and using Arduino
that has been programmed to control the hardware. The user can access wirelessly
to the gate system using Bluetooth from a smartphone via the mobile application,
enabling the contactless interaction between the Arduino to authorized the user. The
Arduino will control the gate motor and operate the gate functions. A scaled down
prototype of the system has been constructed to show how the system works. The
automated gate system should be effective and reliable thus making the operation
safe and easy for the user. Future enhancement of the authentication is required
such as voice recognizer and fingerprint id in order to increase security.
