GUIDE FOR PANELISTS

Format: Arial 12, double space, margin 1in. *future tense*

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study – introduction of the topic + citations from different authors. Arrangement of
citations: global – national – local level. Last part should be a paragraph that states why their study is
important to be conducted.

Theoretical Framework – 3-5 theories related to their topic/title (some with figures)

Conceptual Framework – concepts, laws, programs related to the topic/title (some with figures)

Research Paradigm – input (statement of the problem), process (questionnaire), output (target
outcome)
Statement of the Problem - 1: demographic profile of respondents
- 2: a question focusing on the title (usually with parameters/categories)
- 3: comparison of 1 and 2
- 4: if researchers will make an output (information material, flyers, action
plan, etc.) (optional)

Assumptions of the Study – 3 or more sentences that states what the researchers assume/predict in
their study. (I asked them to do this instead of hypothesis to make their research easier 😊)

Scope and Limitations of the Study – describes the coverage of the study; should include the place
where the study will be conducted, and who will be the respondents of the study

Significance of the Study – all possible beneficiaries should be enumerated and the reasons why they
will be benefited should be stated

Definition of Terms – important words to be defined (usually from the title, or from the background).
First definition-from the dictionary. Second definition-how it is used in the study

CHAPTER II METHODOLOGY

Research Design – descriptive research design should be defined with a citation of the author

Sources of Data – research setting: where the study will be conducted, map of the place

- research sampling: mention the sampling used (how the respondents will be selected)

Or if there is no sampling used, researchers will select all the respondents (if
respondents are few)

Instrumentation and Data Collection – they will mention whether they adapted or formulated their
questionnaire. If they did not adapt their questionnaire, they should explain how they formulated it.
Tools for Data Analysis – where the statistical treatment (used to compute the results of the
questionnaire) is defined. They should show the formula. I ask them to choose the basic so that there is
no need for them to look for a statistician.

SAMPLE QUESTIONS

*You can question their title, reject their title or suggest a better topic related to what they have
chosen

IMPORTANCE OF THEIR STUDY

“Why will we allow you to conduct this study?”
“Please explain to us why this study should be conducted.”
“Why is your study important?”

FRAMEWORK
“How did you relate your study to the theories you mentioned?” (theoretical)
“What is the connection of the law you stated?” (conceptual)

RESPONDENTS
“Why did you select this particular age group?

GENERAL
“If given a chance, would you like to do something different with your work?”
