Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

 Supports visual learners
 Supports ELL students
Utilizing Popplet for this lesson, caters to the needs of all students in the classroom. ELL students
benefit from this tool in this lesson because it is a graphic organizer and it displays the information in
a clear format. Using the pictures and having them connected to definitions can help ELL students
and visual learners.
Lesson idea implementation:
The teacher will start the lesson by showing the students a flower and passing it around so the students can
get a closer look. The teacher will then ask them do they know what the parts of a flower are called? The
teacher will then show the class a video on the parts of a plant. After watching the video, the class will recall
what they learned about the parts of a plant. The teacher will write down what they say on the board.

The teacher will then tell the students to create a Popplet about the parts of a plant and include information
that they learned from the video and the class discussion.

Reflective Practice:
Using Popplet allows the students to arrange and organize their information in a fun way and interactive way.
To move this assignment up to a LoTi 4 or 5, the teacher could let the students choose how they want to
present their project whether it is with a Popplet or a Discovery Education board builder. Whatever the
students come up with could be shared on the classroom’s blog or shared during the morning
announcements.
