Grade Level:2 Content Area: ELA Standards Addressed: ELAGSE2SL5: With guidance and support, create audio recordings of stories or poems; add drawings or other visual displays to stories or recounts of experiences when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts and feelings. Title of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: KidPub URL of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: https://www.kidpub.com/ Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your classroom: I would use KidPub to have the students publish their original poems. I would then have the students comment and write their thoughts and how they understood the poem. The students will record their voices reading the poems as well and post them onto the website. What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom? Computer, laptop, ipad, on the website itself Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.): a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their school: Students will have family members commenting on their posts and classmates as well. b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students are writing their individualized poems. They would have to have an understanding of the content and what it takes to write a poem to complete it. c. Higher-order thinking: They have to think thoroughly about the components of a poem and put their ideas into words in creative ways. d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: They will be posted to the website
