Mr. McKnight,
First and foremost, please allow me to congratulate you and your team on securing the Democratic
Party’s nomination in Tuesday’s primary election.
Cresent Hardy believes very strongly that folks from all parts of the 4th Congressional District should
have the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates their stances on issues that matter most.
As I’m sure you’re already aware, the 4th Congressional District is one of the country’s most diverse
districts. From White Pine County to Lyon County to the urban core of North Las Vegas, this
wonderful District includes farmers, ranchers, casino workers, and food industry workers to name a
few of the many professions.
After all, we should all be able to agree that the aforementioned citizens of the 4th Congressional
District deserve to hear directly from Mr. Horsford on why he abandoned them for the Washington,
D.C. Swamp, a lavish home in an affluent Virginia suburb, and a job as a lobbyist making nearly four
times the median income of the District. Nevada deserves direct answers to these straightforward
questions rather than carefully crafted talking points from the DCCC and vague, meaningless
platitudes from your candidate.
To that end, Cresent Hardy would like to propose a series of three debates between himself and
Mr. Horsford:
A debate hosted by The Nevada Independent, one of Nevada’s newest and most innovative
not-for-profit news sites. Founded after Mr. Horsford left Nevada for good in 2012, The
Nevada Independent has a stellar reputation throughout the state and is widely considered
the gold standard when it comes to new era print journalism;
A debate hosted by The Ely Times. The 4th Congressional District includes all or part of six
rural counties and while Mr. Horsford did all he could to ignore these areas of the District
from 2012 through 2014, it is extremely important for voters in White Pine, Lincoln, Nye,
Esmerelda, Lyon, and Mineral Counties to have an opportunity to meet and get to know
their candidates’ positions on issues of vital importance to them — namely public lands,
water rights, and the 2nd Amendment;
A televised debate on Telemundo.
Kindly,
Ross L. Hemminger

Cresent Hardy for Congress
PS — It is my understanding that Mr. Horsford has temporarily relocated back to Las Vegas after
nearly five years living in the Washington, D.C. metro area. In order to help familiarize himself with
southern Nevada, I have included some pamphlets, guidebooks, and coupons to some of the
amazing attractions and restaurants the 4th Congressional District contains. Cresent Hardy, as a 5th
generation Nevadan who has always lived in this state, hopes that Mr. Horsford will come to love
this state and her people the same way that he does during his short time here before he returns
home to the suburbs of Washington, D.C. - RLH
