Hello! Here we are going to break down a division problem. Feel free to pause or
replay at anytime to better understand this new concept. Here I have a number
sentence that expresses 30 divided by 5. 30 is my dividend and 5 is my divisor. We
are looking for our quotient.

I am going to use my snap cubes to represent 30 pieces. Then I am going to draw 5

circles. I drew 5 circles to represent that we need to separate the 30 pieces into 5
equal groups. I place one piece in my five piles at a time until I have no more
pieces. We want to share them equally, that’s why I place one cube into one circle
at a time.

Now that my 30 pieces are divided equally, I am going to count how many is in
each circle. There should be the same amount in each because she passed out the
pieces evenly. I count 6 cubes in each circle. This tells me that 30 divided by 5 is 6.
