Required Assignments/Tasks
All of the following requirements must be satisfactorily completed before a student will receive
a grade for the Practicum.

1. 150 hours: this is the aggregate number of minimum hours that should be committed to
the practicum.
2. Progress Reports: Students must submit progress reports to the instructor via email at
the end of each week. All progress reports should be submitted in electronic copy to
chrishonorario@yahoo.com not later than Sunday (12:00 NN) of every week.

Progress reports will be a log (hours, events, activities) of your practicum. It should also
include a description of what you have been working on, how you are enjoying your
internship experience, and if you are having any problems or concerns that need to be
addressed.

(This is the only way I will know how things are going throughout the course of your
practicum, so make sure you submit on time. Do not wait until the end of the practicum
to inform me of any concerns, as it will be too late for me to do anything about it. Of
course, if you have any URGENT concerns, do not wait at the end of the week to email
me. You may contact me at 0917-7213627).

3. Academic Paper: This paper should be at least 10 pages in length, double-spaced, with no
bigger than 11pt. Trebuchet Font and 1” margins. This paper has 2 parts, and should
cover the following:

Part I: Internship Description

A. Description of the organization with which you worked, including the


organizational structure, competitors, strengths, weaknesses and how you fit in.

B. Description of projects and tasks you completed. This should be a comprehensive,


well-written overview of how you spent your time in the internship. (Your
optional journal would really help with the part).

Part II: Reflective Summary

A. What were your personal and professional goals in this practicum?


B. What work or management styles did you encounter in your practicum? What
was your relationship like with your supervisor and coworkers? What have you
learned about your own work style or work ethic?

C. How did this practicum relate to your studies and your future career choices?
Did this practicum clarify your choice or make you rethink your career?

D. What matters on public practice did you encounter? Is your classroom


training similar to what you encountered in the practicum? Or is there a gap that
needs to be bridged?

E. Appendices: (Optional) Work samples can be added to the paper in order to


give examples of the tasks and projects you were involved with. It is understood
that sometimes you cannot disclose certain materials, which is why this is not
required.

5. Oral Presentation & Classroom Discussion: An oral presentation of the practicum


experience (maximum of 5 minutes) before me. July 16, 2018. Each student must
prepare for this presentation.

6. Classroom lecture on things that an Accountant should know in public practice. This
lecture will include updates on BIR, SEC and other governmental requirements. This is
on July 16-17, 2018, for those who cannot attend, an alternative project will be required.

7. Mock CPA Board Exam : July 18-19, 2018


Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions – July 18, 2018 9:00-12:00
Taxation – July 18, 2018 2:00 – 5:00PM
Financial Accounting and Reporting – July 19, 2018 9:00 -12:00

Please take note of the coverage: for RFBT also include in your review the following

For Taxation include in your review the following: (1) Senior Citizen Law (2) PWD (3)

You may check the CPA Syllabus as to the specific topics included the above.

8. Evaluation: You and your Firm Supervisor need to submit an evaluation.


A. A written evaluation of your performance by your firm supervisor must be
submitted at the end of the practicum. It is the student’s responsibility to see that
this requirement is met. Non-submission will entail the student a grade of INC.
B. An evaluation must also be completed by the student him/herself. This will be
accomplished at the end of the practicum. An outline will be sent you via email.
You will just fill it up and email it back.

All your work (including the evaluations) is due by July 20, 2018.

Your practicum grade will be determined as follows:
