Universal Design for Learning (UDL): For this particular activity there are so many different means of
representation that the students can have. There are also different ways that the students can show me what
their favorite things were. This can be done through them drawing or describing them.

Lesson idea implementation:

For this activity I will be getting to know my students even more. We are going to have a lesson in class where
the students are going to have to tell me about animals. The students will have to do this using pictures and
words. They will use a combination of both to give me some information about animals. This is how I will get
the students involved in what that they are going to do this weekend.
When it comes to the weekend I will have the students listen to the flipped classroom post to show them
what they are going to do over the weekend. This is when I will ask the students if they understand the
information that was given and clear up any misconceptions. I will write in their agenda for them to also listen
to the blog post with their parent or guardian. When the students come back to class on Monday they will be
asked to share “All their favorite things” with the class and basically give us some information about what is
important to them.

Importance of technology:
The importance of having technology in this lesson is so that the parents can get involved in what the
students are doing and learning about. This is a great way to have them actually come alongside the teacher
and see what they are doing in class. I think that the technology adds parent/guardian involvement into the
lesson and that it would be lost without it.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

The only part of the lesson that requires the students to use the internet is the instructions. This means that
this lesson has fewer risks for internet safety. The instructions were vague enough where someone who was
listening to the statement wouldn’t know where the school is, the age of the students, or any of their
personal information.

Reflective Practice:
I think that this lesson would be a fun way to get the students involved in their learning and doing something
that is fun for them. This is a great activity for them to express and share about who they are and what their
favorite things are. One thing that I would have done differently is making them choose one living and one
nonliving thing to further extend their learning. This could tie in different aspects of things they are learning
about. I could also have them take pictures of their favorite things and have a place for them to put them in
they password protected section on the classroom blog.
