Project description:

The „Freie Montessorischule“ in Stams in Tyrol is looking for an EVS volunteer, who is
motivated to work with children in the mandatory school age in an interesting school.

The „Freie Montessorischule“ in Stams is a school for self-detemined students. It has the
privileges of a public school while remaining a private school. Currently there are twenty-six
students aged from six to fifteen years old who attend the school. Self-directed learning
means the children grow at their own pace, with their own tempo and with their own needs
and fields of interest. The children have a free choice of activity / work, time and place.

The school house is divided in a quiet-area and an area for “louder” activities. On the bottom
floor one can find: the gym, the role playing room, the music room and the workshop.
In the first floor one can find: the art room, the Montessori room, the world room, the
reading corner, the secondary room, a kitchen and the office.
In the outside area there is a large terrace with a big garden.

Tasks of the volunteer:

 Being a part of the „Freie Montessorischule“ in Stams team, in the daily work.
 Being creative and bringing in your own ideas such as: language, crafts, dancing,
cultural, sports etc.
 Being a part of team meeting.
 The EVS service time is 33 hours per week plus one evening with the parents, which
takes place once every two months.

The volunteer will work five days a week (Monday to Friday), for a total of 33 hours,
including the German course.

The volunteer should find joy in working with children and will have the opportunity to lead
children in their activities. The volunteer is invited to bring his or her personal culture,
interests and language into the school.

Volunteer profile:

 We are looking for a „world open“ (open-minded) young person who is between 20
and 30 years old
 We are looking for young people that have fun working with children.
 We are looking for young people that are curious.
 We are looking for someone with creative ideas.
 We are looking for someone who is motivated to learn the German language.
How to apply:

 and the Application Form (for download).

If you want you can additionally send us a specific Motivation Letter. You definitely
need to send us the first two documents and you need to have a sending
organisation!

Please address your application to Margit Passegger and send it to

margit.passegger@tele2.at

Don’t forget to add the name of the project when you apply for it!

The deadline to send your application is on the 29th March 2015.

After the deadline it is possible that we will contact you for further questions through
mail, phone calls or ask you for a Skype talk! The host organisation will take the final
decision about the volunteer in the middle of April.
If there are any questions, please write an E-mail to the EVS coordinator Erika at the
coordinating organisation InfoEck: erika.mischitz@infoeck.at.

Living conditions:

You will be volunteering in the community of Stams, which is not far away from the
bigger town Telfs. You will live in Telfs. In Telfs there will be two other EVS volunteers
arriving, so we are looking for an apartment for the three to live in as roommates.
This town has fifteen-thousand residents, good infrastructure with good train and bus
connections; Innsbruck, the capital of the region Tyrol is around thirty kilometres
away and can be reached by bus or train.

The volunteer will receive a monthly pocket money of Euro 115,-- and also some food
support for every day.

Support during the EVS:

The volunteer will have regular meetings with her or his mentor to talk about the
wellbeing, open questions or to discuss crisis if necessary. In the organisation the
volunteer will receive orientation and support for the activities from the main
responsible employee and from the entire team. The coordinating organisation
InfoEck will hold a bi-monthly group meeting with all volunteers in Tyrol in order to
share experiences, give support to one another and to stay connected. Also, there
are regular free-time activities organised for the volunteers. At the end of the project
we will evaluate it together with the volunteer and look at what he or she has
learned and which competences he or she has gained and as a result fill in the
Youthpass certificate.
