A radiograph picture is viewed as follows:

a. Age of the patient: Certain tumors are common in certain age groups, e.g.
Ewings tumor 5-15 years,
Osteosarcoma 15-25 yrs,
Giant cell tumor 20-30 yrs, etc.

Hence attempt should be made to ascertain the age of the patient radiologically.

b. Bone involved: Certain tumors are common in long bones and in appendicular
skeleton, while others are common in flat bones and axial skeleton, e.g.
osteosarcoma is commonly seen in long bones,
multiple myeloma is commonly seen in flat bones and the vertebra.
