Chronic suppurative otitis media (OMSK) is a chronic infection of the middle ear
lasting more than 2 months, characterized by tympanic membrane perforation
and persistent or absent secretion of the ear from the ear. Secret can be dilute or
thick, clear or pus. In Indonesia, according to a health survey of the vision and
hearing senses of the MOH, 1993-1996 the prevalence of OMSK was 3.1% -5.2%
of the population. This study aims to determine the prevalence of Chronic
Suppurative Otitis Media at Haji Medan General Hospital 2015-2016 based on
age, gender, type of CSOM, complication of CSC, and ear involvement. The
method used is descriptive method, with the sample used is taken from medical
record as much as 203 people. The analysis used is univariate analysis.
Result of research of Chronic Supitisal Otitis Media patient at Haji Medan
Hospital in 2015 were 87 people (42,9%) and year 2016 116 people 57,1%) from
total case 203 people. Of the 203 sufferers of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media in
Hajj field hospital 2015-2016, were found to suffer from Chronic Otitis Media
Supuratif with 169 new cases (83.3%) and 34 cases (16.7%). With the findings of
this research, the researcher's suggestion is to the patient of OMSK to
immediately seek and undergo the complete treatment in order to avoid repeated
infections and complications as well as increase body resistance, hygiene and
sanitation and to the hospital to provide understanding to the patient and family
about the disease OMSK with the aim of reducing the number of CSC and to
reduce the number of patients who experience complications
