DARRS Enterprise

Forecast

Demand
The Philippines is the third worst plastic polluter of oceans and it is obvious that we need to
find a solution on how we can lessen the use of plastics. Typically, our target market consists
of businesses that provide food for the general public such as fast food chains, coffee shop,
and canteens.

Pricing
Our cost will include the current price of our needed raw materials for the product such as
sorghum flour, rice flour, and wheat flour. Our forecasted markup is based on Thomas H.
Gray average wholesaler markups which is 20% and will not exceed 30-40%.

Suppliers
Most of our needed supplies can be bought from Bob’s Red Mill which is a producer of
natural, certified organic, and gluten-free milled grain products, billing itself as the "nation's
leading miller of diverse whole-grain foods.”

New product
Edible cutlery is drawn from issues like environmental sustainability, and climate change. It
is made from sorghum flour, rice flour, and wheat flour kneaded with hot water. No
preservatives, chemicals, additives, colouring agents, raising agents, fat, trans fat, artificial
chemical nutrition or animal ingredients, milk or milk products are added. These are baked
to make them crisp, hard and moisture free. These are 100% natural products, 100% vegan,
100% degradable.

Our business is inspired by BAKEYS’ which was established in 2010 in Hyderabad, Andhra
Pradesh (India), to provide an alternative to plastic disposable cutlery and the bamboo
disposable chopsticks. Just like here in the Philippines, plastic waste management is an issue
that many hasn’t quite understood. Our business believes that by providing edible and
biodegradable cutleries, it would have a great impact to our environment and would raise
public awareness.

The FDA is the government regulating body that has authority over food products in the
retail market, and all food products are required by law to have a certification from the
agency. Aside from complying with what the law requires, getting an FDA certification also
adds credibility to your product. Businesses involved in the importation, exportation,
trading, and distribution of food, drinks, drugs, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, or medical
devices in the Philippines must re need to obtain a license to operate (LTO) and a certificate
of product registration (CPR) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Our business will be situated in North Caloocan where in a lot of food factories are located
there (such as Rebisco).
