OBSERVATION/ ASSESSMENT

During the conduct of Social Investigation to the designated barangays of PSJLC Class

2017-03 and PSBRC Class 2017-01 Alpha to Juliet students, the chart below shows the data and

information that have been gathered and observed. Its indicated with the name of the recipient

barangay together with the name of the class with the observation/ assessment they have collected:

RECIPIENT BARANGAY OBSERVATION/ ASSESSMENT


(PSJLC CL 2017-03) ● The barangay had the most numbers of drug surrenderees in
the entire municipality.

● The people who surrenders from the Oplan Tokhang were not
able to finish the drug rehabilitation program.

● There is a need for the Brgy Tanods of Brgy. San Roque to


be taught of the latest arresting techniques and unarmed combat
for the reason that they are involved in the implementation of
Oplan Tokhang of the PNP.
Brgy. San Roque, Tanauan,
Leyte ● The Tanauan Public Market was temporarily established
along the Maharlika Highway. Thus, this might the cause of
Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Physical Injury and
Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Damage to property
(Malicious Mischief) the predominant crime according to the
recorded crime statistics of the barangay. The incident is
prevalent in the month of June which is the opening of classes
and Sunday which is Market Day the contributory factor to this
is the convergence of people (12:00 nn- 4:00 pm) .

● The recorded crime incidents of the barangay are minimal


and manageable. Thus, cannot considerably affect the peace
and order of the barangay.

● Brgy. San Roque is now considered as a drug- free barangay


despite of having the most numbers of drug surrenderees of the
municipality.

● The drug surrendered need an assurance that their names will


be no longer included in the illegal drugs watch list of Tanauan
MPS.

● The main livelihood of the residents is fishing.

● The barangay has a standby vehicle needed during


emergency purposes.

● Poor drainage system and proper waste disposal is not


seriously observed in some parts of the barangay.

● The residents vacate the area designated as “No Build Zone”


to prevent from becoming a victim to natural calamities/
disaster since the location of the barangay is facing the pacific
coast. Hence, the residents are residing at the relocation area at
Brgy. Pago.

● Most of the residents in the said barangay were very


cooperative and shows interest and supports in every activity
that has been conducted by the class.

● The residents of the barangay showed an interest in necessity


for updates on dealing disaster since their barangay is facing
the pacific coast and prone to storm surge.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● Crime reported within the area: land disputes, issues on debts
MASIGASIG “Alpha” and grudges between residents but peacefully settled with the
active involvement of the Barangay Officials.

● Prostitution is one of the threats that is recently facing by the


barangay.

● There are also females from other barangays or outsider who


Prime Town Housing Unit enters the relocation area and provides short-time leisure for the
Project 1, Brgy. Pago, male residents.
Tanauan, Leyte
● Weak implementation of ordinances ‘like curfew for the
minors due to lack of manpower or Tanods roving in the area.

● No political rivalry or bickery in the barangay.

● Relocation area can be considered as generally peaceful


based on the logbook that contains the records of the disputes
that was amicably settled by the council.

● Most of the Residents in the relocation were from Bgry. San


Roque.

● Fishing is the means of living of the residents.

● The organized groups (MCCT/ 4P’s) in the barangay were


actively and cooperatively participated in all activities.

● Problem in proper waste disposal of the garbage.

● Drainage was full developed and helps minimized flooding.

● A need to be covered with a perimeter fence for security


purposes of the residents.
● Modernized Barangay Hall is present and equipped with
computers for easy access of the important details recorded of
the residents.
● There is an old complete set of sound system yet sometimes
it malfunctions.

● Poor attendance of the students in school due to the distance


from their residency to their school.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● Petty crimes such as theft/ snatching, alarm and scandal are
MASIGASIG “Bravo” thriving in the said place.

● Has own committees to maintain the peace and order of the


area.

● No guards on post upon entering the area.

S.O.S Children’s Villages ●There are Tanods who patrol in the area.
Prime Town Housing, Brgy.
Pago, Tanauan, Leyte ● No church, health center, recreational/market structures in
the area.

● Lack of water supply.

● Poor source of living. (Fishing, vegetable planting, carpentry


and sari- sari store: the most common source of living of the
residents in SOS Village).

● Most of the residents are members of 4P’s.

● The people are easy to deal with.

● Brgy. Pago Day Care Center is the designated evacuation


center of for the residents in times of calamities.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● The barangay is a flood prone area.
MASIGASIG “Charlie”
● Waste Management Disposal.

● Out of school youth.


Brgy. Lapay, Tanauan, Leyte ● Had a motivational talk for the Out of School Youth together
with the parents who were present.

● There is a Barangay Hall/ Day Care Center, School, Church,


Health Center, and Recreational area that can be utilized by the
residents.

● Conducted a tree planting activity to minimize flooding.


● Lapay Elementary School serves as the evacuation center of
the people in the barangay.
● Majority of the families, farming is the main source of
income and livelihood in Brgy. Lapay.

●The Barangay has a very low crime rate.

● Discussed the importance of garbage segregation, and proper


waste management.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● No reported constituents to having been a user, pusher and/or
MASIGASIG “Delta” protectors of illegal drugs.

● Considered as one of the peaceful barangays.

● The Barangay Officials is always maintaining peace and


order within their jurisdiction.

● The barangay has:


- Chapel
- Barangay Hall
- Day Care Center
- Elementary School
- VAWC Desk
Brgy. Tugop, Tanauan, Leyte
● Farming and sari- sari store is the main source of income of
its constituents.

● Most of the people spend their time to work in the farm


during daytime.

● They have different organizations/ association:


- Tugop Women Association/ Dungganon Women’s
Association
- Ambassador Farmers Association
- Saint Luis de Marilac Organiz Farming Association

●Most of the family resides in the Barangay are extended


family.

● Distance of getting a water to drink is far and it’s the basic


problem of the people.

● School is conducive for learning.

●The Barangay Tugop was once a winner for the cleanest


barangay in Tanauan, Leyte.
● The community was always cooperative in every activity
conducted.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● Criminal activities are seldom to happened because Brgy.
MASIGASIG “Echo” Tanods are active in performing their duties night and day.

● No specified police station.

● Has 4 different Crimes were recorded in the year 2017 but


considered as peaceful barangay.

● Tanods are always active in duty.

● Flooding and Landslide is prone to the barangay.


Brgy. Maribi, Tanauan, Leyte
● Barangay councils are very close to their people in terms of
rendering services.

● Most of the resident’s source of living in the barangay is


farming and cultivating vacant land area. While other’s source
of living is sari-sari store and hatching Quail Eggs.

● The barangay has an active different organization (MCCT,


4P’s and Senior Citizen Association) where the members can
address their needs and queries.

● The Barangay has its different equipment that they utilized in


rice production.

● The school (even in elementary) has computers and the


method of teaching was modernized.

● The community actively support and participated in every


activity that has been done by the students.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● Pursuing the campaign on Illegal Drugs
MASIGASIG “Foxtrot”
● The Barangay Officials are strongly enforcing the law on
Illegal drugs as a support to the campaign of the government
against Illegal drugs.

● Has a minimum crime existing in the community. The


barangay seeks to prevent this crimes through mediation on the
barangay and police intervention.

●The barangay somehow exerts efforts on giving legal


consultation to the constituents.
Brgy. Canramos, Tanauan,
Leyte ● Brgy. Tanods are visible during their duties.

● 10:00 pm- 4:00 am is the curfew hour. There’s an alarm


roving around every 10:00 pm which signifies that it is start of
the curfew.
● The barangay is considered as a peaceful community.

● Traffic Condition is at normal level.

● The barangay is near in public market and town proper.

●Brgy. Canramos is more modernized compared with other


barangays.

● The area is not prone to storm surge and landslide.

● One of the most practiced livelihood activities is pottery.

● Some of the residents are making pottery and bamboo crafts


as their source of income

● Has its own Day Care Center, Elementary School, 2 High


Schools, and covered court, church and health center.

● Computer sets are present in using / making official


documents. Digital cameras and CCTV.

● Problem on Proper Waste Disposal.

● There are malnourished children that belongs to the 4 P’s and


MCCT members.

● Some preventive activities catered to the residents were


through mediation in barangay and by the presence of police
interventions.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● Cabuynan has a medium level of crime volume.
MASIGASIG “Golf”
● The police station is 5 km away from the barangay.

● Local executive needs more effort in enforcing the law and


fulfilling the task at hand.

● The Barangay is accessible to different kind/ mode of


Brgy. Cabuynan, Tanauan, transportation.
Leyte
● Computer shop is available in the area.

● Excellent signal for cellular cite.

● Has a great opportunity for progress both in socio-economic


and constructural facilities.

● Cabuynan has Beach Forest Plantation Island. Planted with


Mangroves and Talisay.
● The present health problem encountered by the residents is
high blood pressure.

● Has one elementary and high school, church, day care center,
covered court and Brgy. Health Center.

● Sources of income includes tricycle and pedicab driving and


fishing.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● There were six drug personalities who surrendered from
MASIGASIG “Hotel” OPLAN DOUBLE BARREL of the PMD and graduated from
Mayor Tecson’s Community Rehabilitation Program and were
given livelihood.

● No crime incident reported from August 2017 up to present.

● Barangay tanods are tasked to conduct routinely duties


especially during night to prevent criminal activities.
Brgy. Magay, Tanauan, Leyte
● Barangay tanods are tasked to conduct routinely duties
especially during night to prevent criminal activities.

● Brgy. Officials are responsible, functional and dedicated to


their duties.

● The Brgy. Magay is still considered quiet and peaceful based


on Crime pattern shown.

● Has two churches: (1) Roman Catholic (1) Saksi ni Jehovah.

● Has a hospital/ health center.

● Their barangay health center lacks of equipment such as


blood pressure, weighting scale, tables and chair for patients
and health works.

● Has an on- going housing project of Agustanian Missionry


for the residents of Brgy. Magay who does not have their own
land.

● No primary school that could be found in the area other than


the day care center.

●Has mini playground for the children of brgy. Magay near the
barangay hall.

● Has a barangay hall, provided with session hall and guest


room.

● The barangay has a Bokashi Garden. A garden that is planted


with various high- value crops.
● Aside from fishing as their source of income majority of them
are pedicab drivers and construction workers.

● Lack of trash cans/ bins.

● Zero waste management advocacy.

● Zero: Open defecation, malnourish children, out of school


youth, waste.

● No stable source of clean water in the relocation site.

● The residents are hospitable and friendly.

PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● Theft is the rampant in barangay and minors are involve in
MASIGASIG “India” this crime.

● Youth and children are involved in theft.

● The Barangay Tanods are lack of trainings on implementing


peace and order and blotter logging.

● National law and municipal ordinances are also observed in


the barangay.

● Implemented curfew hour for the children.

Brgy. Calogcog, Tanauan, ● Considered as not completely peaceful but still manageable.
Leyte
● There is an Elementary School, Day Care Center, Evacuation
Center, Barangay Health Center, Multi- Purpose Hall.

● The school has computer room with 7 units for the pupils.

● Agriculture is one of the primary sources of income for the


majority of Calogcogons.

● Communication and transportation is operational but needs


more improvement.

● Pedicabs, utility tricycles, buses, vans and utility jeepneys are


the usual mode of transportation in the barangay.

● Problem on Environmental Sanitation.

● Problem on unpleasant smell of the piggery along the roads


in Zone 2.

● Conflict and rehabilitation of roadway in Zone 5.

● Proper renovation of their mini park.


● No sports area to divert the mind-set of the youth from
negative doings.

● Lack of sports facilities.

● The barangay officials are very supportive and approachable

● United community.

RECIPIENT BARANGAY OBSERVATION/ ASSESSMENT


PSBRC CL 2017-01 ● There was one person who reported twice for ESTAFA case
MASIGASIG “Juliet” and one drug surrenderee.

● Cannot directly considered as a drug- free barangay.

● Alarm and scandal is the most common problem that the


council is facing among some residents of the barangay.

● Has different barangay ordinance that helps regulate he peace


Brgy. Sacme, Tanauan, Leyte and order in the community and maintain social order.

● There is no police station in the said relocation area.

● Barangay Tanods are performing their duties and


responsibilities and is willing to respond on calls 24/7.

● The Barangay Tanod’s need training/ seminar for the


improvement/ enhancement of their skills as force multipliers.

● No separate logbook for blotter and attendance of the


barangay officials.

● Lack of equipment for the Barangay Tanods for their duty.

● There were few residents who disobeys barangay ordinances


especially those related to fishing and proper waste disposal.

● Considered as peaceful barangay.

● The location is far from proper of Tanauan.

● No significant business establishment in the area.

● The Barangay is generally characterized as an agricultural


and fishing community.

● Some data still needs to be updated considering that lots of


new residents pour into the barangay as a relocation site.

● They have Day Care Center, Kindergarten and Elementary


School.

● The school is equipped with computers, TV and projectors.


● Has a rescue vehicle standby during emergency.

● Communication and transportation is present in the area.


● Usual mode of transportation of the barangay are pedicabs,
electric bicycles and utility tricycles.

● The Barangay is very susceptible to flooding.

● Future development of water ways, canals, drainage and


proper waste disposal to minimize the effect of flooding in the
barangay.

● Koreans give assistance/ support to the barangay.

● Koreans conduct and provide feeding program ever day


Friday for the Children to minimize malnutrition and sponsored
the creation of the Korean building.

● Has a very supportive and cooperative Barangay Officials as


well as the residents.
.
● The residents should have monthly check-up.

● Has a friendly and peaceful environment and fresh air.

● There’s a need to get the residents actively involved in the


activities
