Kerala CM, IUML leader visit Kauvery Hospital
Efforts on to improve Karunanidhi’s
lung function, say hospital sources

Kerala Chief Minister and se-
nior CPM leader Pinarayi Vi-
jayan visited Kauvery Hospi-
tal here, on Thursday and
enquired about DMK chief
M. Karunanidhi’s health
from the latter’s son and
working president M.K. Sta-
lin and daughter Rajya Sabha
MP Kanimozhi.
Emerging from the hospi-
tal, Mr. Vijayan said: “All of
us saw Kalaignar... a fighter
by birth. In his life, he fought
in several fields. His condi-
tion has very much
improved.”
When asked whether he
met Mr. Karunanidhi in per-
son, Mr. Vijayan said: “I dis-
cussed with his son [Mr. Sta-
lin] and daughter [Ms.
Kanimozhi]. Senior CPM
leader G. Ramakrishnan was
Kader Mohideen
also present. In a tweet, later
in the evening, Ranil Wickre-
mesinghe, Sri Lankan Prime
Minister, tweeted that he
had spoken to Mr. Stalin,
during his trip to India. It is
learnt that he was here to vi-
sit Tirupathi.
Actor Sivakarthikeyan,
former Kerala Minister Kun-
halikutty, and K.M.Kader
Mohideen of IUML also visit-
ed the hospital.
Mr. Karunanidhi, who was
admitted to the hospital on
Friday night, remained sta-
ble and was put through a
transient step towards im-
proving his lung function,
the sources at the hospital
said.
While rumours of him sit-
ting on a chair circulated on
social media all day, sources
said it was part of a medical
procedure.
