Second Year Civil Engineering
Semester-II
University of Pune
Goal: This course is very useful to the students to impart knowledge about
basic concept of structural Analysis , Slope and deflection of determinate
beams, Strain energy , Analysis of Indeterminate Beams and Frame,
Analysis of Determinate and Indeterminate Plane Trusses, Plastic Analysis
of Structure, Influence line diagram , Rolling loads.
Objective: Students will understand how to do the analysis of simple beams and frames.
Objective : Students will understand about propped cantilever and fixed beams by strain
energy , analysis of continuous beams .
Objective: Students will understand about analysis of continuous beams and rectangular
portal frames.
13 Redundant trusses.
Unit 4 A : Concept of plastic hinge and collapse mechanism, statical and kinematical
method of analysis.
Objective: Students will understand the concept of true and idealized stress-strain curve for
mild steel in tension, stress distribution in elastic, elasto-plastic and plastic stage. Concept of
plastic hinge and collapse mechanism, statical and kinematical method of analysis.
17 Know how to calculate plastic moments & collapse load for determinate
and indeterminate beams.
