Aims / Changes:
Party Leader:
Aims
the Lyon party has several policies which seek to maintain and improve existing rules and
cultural aspects of school. Over time the school has developed in many ways, mostly changes
which have improved however others have impacted negatively to the rich culture and deep
traditions which define Knox Grammar. the Lyon party has 8 policies which bring back old rules
and privileges which have been forgotten or taken away over the long history of Knox Grammar.
We also seek to introduce some new rules which have seen to be effective at other private
schools. A new privilege we seek to introduce based around the exam day for students in year 9
and above. These are the most stressful times of year and require time and a significant amount
of energy. What we seek to introduce will give the students the extra time they need and
deserve whilst allowing them to perform to the best of their ability. We wish to implement no
classes for students on the day of an exam giving time for final preparations and the chance to
sleep in so they are fresh for the exam. In schools such as Shore Grammar (one of the leading
high score HSC schools) surveys and prolonged data prove that one this rule has been
implemented results from students have risen on average 12% and stress and anxiety rates
have declined by 23%. We hope to implement this privilege gradually over a long period of as
big changes (like some we have seen in the past) had such a dramatic change it ultimately
failed. Our decision was to allow this rule for yearlys/half yearlys for years 9 - 12 and if this
proved to be successful we can implement this for every assessment year round. “For the
many, not the few” - The Lyon party motto states that we fight for every student at knox hence
we have tried to implement this rule for the year 7 - 8’s. To look at this we thought that if the
older year groups improve and respond positively to the new privilege we could allow this for the
year 7’s yearly exams.
The lyon party also seeks to improve and maintain every major aspect of Knox Grammar school
including; academics, cadets, performing arts and sport as we have a minster for each of these
aspects

the Minister for Academia will address the outdated exam system for submitting
assessments at Knox Grammar school. Our is to improve our system at Knox of submitting
assessment to all online submissions through Student Cafe to make our submission processes
more efficient. the current system at Knox has been around for generations of handing in hand -
in assessments to a teacher to school. This is extremely lacking in the 21st century as many
schools make use of their Student Cafe systems to submit assessments. On top of this, many
students may not have access to colour printers which are sometimes required for assessments
to print colour pages to hand in. This creates stress among students to get into school early to
use the library printer in order to submit a colour page. When students arrive, they arrive to a
packed library of many other students trying to do the same thing of printing which overworks
the printers and creates more stress among students. Along with this new submission policy, we
also believe the returning of marks could be significantly upgraded also. Through utilising our
Student Cafe once again, where we submit our assessments we will have an area which
displays our mark. This makes it easier for both the teacher and student to receive marks.
Teacher will only have to simply type in the mark and any other comments which the students
may want to see. Through this, the turnaround for marks will be significantly quicker as the
teacher will not need to bring in marks.

Minister for Transportation:
Knox buses better equipped for students
The minister for transportation will be addressing the issue of not adequate conditions on buses
for students to work or put their equipment. Currently students on the knox bus are highly
cramped with their school bags and maybe even sport bags. Combine this with no space for
kids to do work on the bus and the bus rides to and from school are proving to be very much a
waste of time. In order to Change the minister of transport will have desks on each and every
seat back that come down much like aeroplanes so that students will have the opportunity to be
productive during their travel time. Furthermore areas dedicated to school bags will be added to
the buses above the seats so that students aren’t so cramped.
7
Minister for Co-Curricular:
Wider variety of Co-Curricular Options
the minister of Co-curricular will be addressing the limited amount of co-curriculars offered at
Knox for the ever-growing population. Due to the diverse culture at Knox, the offered co-
curriculars may not be every students passion / enjoyment, therefore 5 new activities based
upon the students interests are to be implemented into the co-curricular system and made a
choice for students to choose. Alongside this, for students whom are unsure there will be events
held to promote individual co-curricular activities. the day will consist of activities held around
the school, enabling students to attend them for a brief overview. This policy will be admirable
for many students, as it will compliment students individual passions and allow them apply for
an activity within school, and not seek for one outside. Some likely criticisms can involve
teachers complaining about the work / lesson missed out on the day(s) that the co-curricular
event is held, as well as some training session which may occupy time for that student.
Teachers will need to recognise the opportunities the event could lead to for students, as well as
letting the student enjoy co-curricular interests. Students will also need to stay on top of their
homework, and if unable to complete it, they will need to catch up.
8
Minister for Performing Arts:
Choice of Performance
Within the Lyon Party, the performing arts minister will be addressing significant gaps regarding
the overall enjoyment of Performing Arts within the Knox community. With these gaps creating
potentially less satisfaction resulting in a lacking number of individuals taking part in many
performing arts productions and activities. therefore the Lyon Party plans to solve this gap
allowing for an overall more enjoyable experience within the performing arts. Within this gap, the
lack of choice is a significant factor in the absence of enjoyment. As this lack of choice forces
individuals and groups to attend and commit time to a play, musical etc. that they may not enjoy.
therefore to solve this problem a vote will be held. Where students will place forward a number
of plays, musicals etc. depending on the field of performing arts and teachers will assess their
viability which will be followed by a student vote on a viable play, musical etc. therefore allowing
for choice within the performing arts community allowing our party to seem largely appealing
towards said performing arts community. Due to the more significant improvement of choice.
With the only criticisms of this policy being the potentially tedious task of choosing the play
alongside potentially unavailable performing arts performances being placed forward. Which will
be resolved through the use of google surveys alongside a student to Teacher basis when
choosing said performing arts performance. As the use of Google surveys will allow for ease
when choosing a play as all those interested can quickly put forward a performance they wish to
perform within their respected performing arts field. therefore removing the tedious factor of
having to gather the suggested performances from the students. Which will be followed by
teacher interaction, where teachers who are coordinating the performing arts will look over the
proposed performances and assess their viability to be able to be performed by the Knox
performing arts community. Which will resolve the issue regarding finding and developing a
viable performance. Which will be followed by another google survey with students voting on
feasible performances chosen by the teachers (coordinators) that were put forward by the
students. Which will again remove the tedious factor when determining a performance. therefore
this implication of this policy will allow for a primarily improved experience within the performing
arts due to the significantly more substantial factor of choice given to the students and guided
by the teachers.

Support Options:
Promotional Video:
A promotional video is a great choice to employ to increase awareness of our party and provide
viewers with information about our political party. In the modern age, a video is an excellent way
to introduce information because people would prefer to spend 2-3 minutes watching a video
instead of spending 20 minutes reading some text. Video’s also help in communicating their
important points to their audience in very little time. Another advantage to using promotional
videos is that they can be put anywhere on the internet, not just a website. A detailed study by
A.C. Nielsen in 2011 has reported that approximately 68 percent of Australian citizens spend 39
hours a month on the Internet. During this time they view more than 3237 web pages, including
videos. In 2012, people in Australia watched more than 9 billion videos online, which indicates
that video marketing can be the most powerful way to reach to their target markets.
Facebook:
Facebook is an extremely viable option for gaining support for the esteemed Lyon Party. Today,
Facebook is used by people all around the world with over 1 billion active users at any moment.
This would provide a great advertising stop for the lyon party. As most people who attend Knox
grammar School own a Facebook profile, it will make it easy to gain publicity. Using Facebook,
we can invite many of our friends to a specific Facebook group called the Lyon Party Group. On
this specific page, will contain all our ministers and policies. All people who are invited, or
request to see the groups information will be able to easily view the information being provided
by us. We are sure in using Facebook as a support option, our supporters will increase as they
are constantly updated with new meetings and general updates regarding the party.
Posters:
the Lyon party will be utilizing posters and printed promotion to allow our great party to gather
support to rally with us. This being due to the possible support and traffic, posters can gather.
As a single poster can gain the eye of a number of public individuals and groups with said
poster displaying information and details about our party. With this quick flow of information
allowing viewers to simply identify what we stand for allowing for potential followers to be gained
due to our values and ideals being displayed. these posters will be utilized by having a simplistic
design as stated before with information and details alongside being placed in areas of high
traffic to allow for as many viewers as possible. therefore the use of posters will allow us to gain
a number of followers due to our values and ideals being easily and simplistically displayed.
