Abstract This paper presents a discussion about the benefits of environmental waste management in construction
and the consequent impact on the environment. Over the years there has been an increase in the generation of con-
struction waste in recent years as a result of the expansion of the real estate sector. With this increase in the volume of
waste, it becomes essential to implement waste management systems by the construction companies. It is very im-
portant, in order to have a safe construction site, the implementation of awareness programs with the workers involved,
so that these workers and the environment benefit from these actions. For this reason, it was consulted the CONAMA
Resolution No. 307 of July 5, 2002, which was created to establish obligations, guidelines, criteria and procedures for
the management of construction waste. In addition, a visit was made to the waste collection center of construction in the
city of Ribeirão Preto-SP, where data were collected from it and compared to data from other cities in the IPEA (2012)
research report.
IPEA (2012).
