Teaching Associate
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
University of the Philippines

Sir,

Greetings of peace!

We are Grade 12 STEM Senior High School students of Caloocan National Science and Technology
High School who are currently taking Practical Research 2 class. The subject aims to expose us to
selected advanced methods in life science and applied science investigations and to prepare us
acquire the necessary competence in scientific research.

As part of our requirements, we are pursuing a scientific study whose details are shown below:

Tentative title:

Chinese Eggplant (Solanum melonga) as a Bio-Piezoelectric Nanogenerator Material to Produce

Voltage, Electric Current, and Resistance

General Objectives:

The study aims to find out if the Solanum melongena can produce electricity as a bio-
piezoelectric material. It also aims to find out if it can be substituted to the onion skin of the Onion
Skin Bio-piezoelectric Nanogenerator (OSBPNG), by the researchers Maiti et. al. (2017). It aims to
find another low-cost substitute that produces “green” energy. It aims to find out if the Solanum
melongena can generate electricity like the onion skin in the OSBPNG.

In this connection, we would like to seek assistance on the following aspects:

1. Consultation with the appropriate experts related to Piezoelectric Nanogenerators

2. Availability of chemicals required for the study and laboratories which could serve as a venue for
our experimentation.
3. Use of the following equipment and their corresponding fees:
a. Oscilloscope
b. Multimeter
4. Inquiry on laboratory fees, if any.

Our team is hoping that you are willing in lending us a hand. In this regard, you may write us back for
details:
