Objectives

1. Discuss death rate and birth rate.

2. Differentiate immigration and emigration

3. Determine the importance of population organization.

4. Study the population growth of the Philippines.

Critical Thinking Questions

1. What are the factors that prevent exponential growth in a population? What are some
density-dependent and density independent limiting factors?

There are factors like food shortage, space delimitation, death and mortality that
prevent exponential growth of population in a community these are factors that are either
avoidable or not. However, due to modern advancements, humans invented medicines
and treatments to extend life.

Talking about the density-dependent and independent density these are the
factors affects the population growth of a particular population living in a specific
ecosystem. Density-dependent is a factor that a particular population vary their food,
predation, and sometimes they get diseases for example when the food supply of eagle
runs out the eagle will force to leave to find sources of food or either the eagle will get a
disease and sooner or later it will die. While the independent density describes the
phenomena happen in a particular ecosystem which can affect the food sources of the
animals for example thunderstorm, earthquakes, calamity, unusual weather and seasonal
cycles due to this effects the population being harm.
2. Why do crude birth and death rates express in per thousand people? Why not give the
numbers per person or for the entire population?

Most of the people living in this world can produce an offspring or what we called
a baby, other years it might seem like giving birth is the precious thing going to happen in
a specific life of a person. And minute by minute, many babies being born into the world.
In the area of producing an offspring, we have this crude birth rate and death rates it
defines that the CBR is computing most of the babies being born nowadays.

The CBR and CDR are determined by taking the total number of births or deaths
in a population and dividing both values by a number to obtain the rate per 10000. For
example, if a country has a population of one million and 15,000 babies were born last
year in that country, we divide both the 15,000 and 1,000,000 by 1000 to obtain the rate
per 1000. Thus the Crude Birth Rate is 15 per 1000. Therefore this CBR and Death rates
are the measurements to be used to found out how many babies being survived in a
specific country it's similar to the statistical tool.

3. Some demographers claim that the total population has already begun to slow.

Global population growth is following a similar path. Even though we are still
growing at a high rate, the slowdown has already started, and we will never revert to the
high speed we had in the past. We had already passed two historical peaks of global
demography a few decades ago. Demographers claim that the total population has
already begun to slow the answers of this question only the death rate of babies being
examined year by year but if this problem based on the statistical study today humans
continue to expand year by year. I object to this issue that the total population has already
begun to slow yes the population is decreasing but if we compared to the people being
born every day that's not big issue to conclude that population is getting slower I can say
that the population today is rapidly increasing as you can see the natural resources are
being limited that's a one factor for increasing population since the more people being
born the more resources are needed.

4. What makes designing experiments in human demography difficult?

Demographics refers to the characteristics of a given population. This type of data
used in many ways and some of the most common that examined include race, gender,
location, employment. This human demography is very hard to conduct since most of the
people living in their own homes nowadays are having a no permanent address if we
based it on determining the number of population in a certain community it's a big problem
for the statistician because some people are not accurate in telling their own data. There
are many other problems in demographic profiling as it is mostly about making
generalizations about groups of people.

As with all generalizations, there are many individuals within the group that will not
conform to the norms. It's all about the teams and not individuals, and for this fact, critics
will point out that such generalizations can offer very little insight and very little practical
use.

Applying the Concepts

1. Explain how population affects resources. Research about the current number of
people in your community. Gather the pertinent information such as age, structure, etc,
and come up with an analysis of your community population.
