Hello and welcome to Physical Science! My name is Mrs. Burbank and I will be your 2018-2019 science teacher.
Together we will venture through many exciting lessons that explore the concepts of motion, matter, and
chemicals. I look forward to this year and hope to make your John Hopkins experience a wonderful one.

1. Be on Time

otherwise stated

procedures, including no
bathroom/hallway passes the
first or last 15 mins of class

JHop Bucks
This year, each student will have
the opportunity to earn JHop
bucks for following school and
classroom expectations. This
incentive program will allow
students to take ownership for
their actions while being
recognized for positive behavior.
Students will earn these bucks
for a variety of reasons while
engaging in classroom
competition, setting and
achieving individual goals, and
making gains throughout their
educational science journey.

What do I need to bring to
class?
Reports
You are responsible for having
the following supplies:
• Binder (2” or 3”)
• Crayons/colored
pencils
• Glue sticks
• Pencils
• Highlighters
Binders will be kept in the
classroom.
CELL PHONE/ELECTRONIC
DEVICES: These items are not
permitted to be seen in school.
If students bring their
electronic device into the
class, and I see or hear the
device, I will collect it and an
infraction form will be given.

The daily agenda and test
dates as well as any other
important information will

white board and needs to be
written in your agenda. You
may also check portal for
assignments.
How will I earn my grade?
• Classwork 30%
• Quizzes/Exams 30%
• Projects/Labs 35%
• Homework 5%
Most work will be completed in the
Interactive Science Binder.
Late work policy: Class work, quizzes, and
tests will be expected to be completed the
same day the assignment was assigned. In
the event a student is absent (or in ISS),
they will have the same amount of days as
missed to make up their work.
Extra Credit: The expectation is that
students will complete their assignments
when they are assigned. Extra credit (when
available) can be completed online through
Discovery Education – our online textbook
