0 INTRODUCTION

According to Tanggang et al (2006), temperature in Malaysia has increased between

0.5 Celsius to 1.5 Celsius in the last 40 years and the statement recorded at Kuantan,
Mersing and Kota Bharu which located at the east coast zone of Peninsular Malaysia.
Furthermore, Wai et al. (2005) have detected a significant increase of the mean annual
temperature, ranging from 0.99 to 3.44°C per 100 years and they also have detected that
global warming trend in Malaysia has increased in the past 30 years. Our country faced with
the statement of the "rain season is uncertain nowadays" and "more frequent rain in this
area". In study of Tanggang et al. (2006) have revealed that since 1980s there are
increasing number of days of extreme rainfall event and thunderstorm over Peninsular
Malaysia including at the east coast zone of Peninsular Malaysia. Global warming means the
observed and projected increases in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and
oceans. The Earth's average temperature rose about 0.6° Celsius (1.1° Fahrenheit) in the
20th century. According to different assumption about the future behavior of mankind, a
projection of current trends as represented by a number of different scenarios gives
temperature increases of about 3° to 5° C (5° to 9° Fahrenheit) by the year 2100 or soon
afterwards. A 3°C or 5° Fahrenheit rise would likely raise sea levels by about 25 meters
(about 82 feet).

2.0 PREVENTING GLOBAL WARMING IS A GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY

‘Preventing global warming is a global responsibility’. I agree with this statement

because rise in temperature is caused by the fossil fuels, agricultural processes, increasing
in emissions of greenhouse, industries, deforestation and open burning which done by every
human being. As tenant of the green world, we should take care of our shelter, is our one of
the responsibility.

So that, we should prevent global warming to be more serious by start it from our
home like air-conditioner, lights and bulbs and reduce uses of electronic devices.
Awareness in every individual on this issue is fundamental to the efforts that will be carried
out by school, community or country. Contribution from every each human being to the care
of the environment is more important than the efforts of the school, community and country.
Measures to be taken included every vehicle user have to ensure vehicle tires have been
pumped sufficiently because the tires were not pumped enough gas will release a lot of
carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. We have to avoid using hot water to wash clothes instead
use suitable cleaning products that can be used even in cold or lukewarm water. This is
because ancients peoples used hot water to wash clothes instead of using fabric washing
powder because previous era not having substances to wash clothes. We should also
remove plaque of electrical wires from the socket when not in use. This is because plaque of
electrical wires that is connected to the socket will cause electrical current still flows even the
switch has been turned off. The use of fluorescent bulb is also save more energy than a
lamp or light bulb. Turn off all lights when you leave a room and by running your appliances
on full loads only and installing motion sensors on outdoor lights that burn all night. Turn off
unused appliances. Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy. Moreover,
we can also buy items that can be recycled. In addition to minimizing the use of raw
materials for the production of new goods, goods that can be recycled will be profitable when
they are sold for recycle. Planting trees around houses can also solve this problem. In
addition creating a cozy and cool atmosphere by planting trees will also reduce the density
of carbon dioxide that accumulates around the house.

On the other hand, cooperation from community give more benefits in addressing the
problem of global warming which becoming more serious now days. To mitigate the effects
of global warming, the community should give information about the seriousness of global
warming issues to others. Communities also need to give a positive response to the
government's call to work together to address this problem. In schools, education on
environmental care also needs to be given and revealed. This is because the younger
generation should know the importance of protecting the environment and through exposure
on the issue of global warming since their schooling at least can give them an idea of what
they need to do as their responsibility towards the environment. School counselors should
not only be concerned with student discipline problems at school. Disclosures about current
issues to the students also need to be viewed seriously. For example, the issue of global
warming is getting more serious nowadays. Disclosures of the ways that can be used to
minimize the impacts of global warming are important. This can be done by putting up
posters, held talks and organize competitions related to care of the environment. This will
bring awareness to the students and school authorities about the importance of preserving
the natural environment around us.

In addition, government needs to implement a more effective law enforcement in a

country. For example, they have to enforce the use of a vehicle that has a filter in the
exhaust which will filter the gas. This of course will ensure the cleanliness of the gases
released from the exhausts of vehicles especially in urban areas. Moreover, approving
licenses for logging purposes also need to be minimized. This is to ensure that loggers from
misused their permits for their own benefit. Determination of limits for quantity of timber that
can be harvested in one year will be able to minimize the logging timber in the country.
 I also do not agree with the statement 'preventing of global warming is a global
responsibility'. This is because not every individual be the cause for global warming. It is
getting serious nowadays which caused by certain parties as parties of deforestation,
industrial and agricultural processes. I emphasize this because the parties are the main
factors of global warming. For the deforestation, the parties are cutting down the trees
without limitation. In terms of industry, they release gases such as carbon dioxide, methane
and nitrous oxide into the air. This gases all polluting then environment and depleting ozone
layer. By this global warming is getting more and serious. The third is the agricultural
process that release greenhouse gases from fertilizers and pesticides used in agriculture. It
is becoming one of the causes of global warming. So these parties are responsible for
addressing the global warming and not all human.

3.0 CONCLUSION

From the results, it can be concluded that global warming is no longer a minor issue
because this issue much harm to all living beings on this earth. We need to realize that
global warming is not occurring naturally. Instead, we need to remember that this issue is
caused by our own actions which are more concerned with profit, pleasure and excessive
comfort. Our children's future lies on the effort and what we do now. Let us not willing to let
our future generations suffer and live in fear due to the negligence and apathy of us
nowadays.
