PREPARING FOR THE PE EXAM? If so, you probably know that several AASHTO publications are
included on the syllabus as preparation materials for the NCEES Professional Engineers (PE) exam.

AASHTO Publications wants to make it easy for you to purchase the publications you need by providing
you with the following three options:

Option 1. You may purchase the complete PE Exam Collection of seven publications, and save
approximately 40%.

Option 2. If you do not need the entire collection, you may purchase the publications separately.

Option 3. If you are preparing for the Professional or Structural Engineers (PE/SE) exam, you may
purchase the PE/SE Exam edition of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
* Please note that these PE editions are to be used only as preparation materials for the PE and PE/SE exams and do not, necessarily,
represent the most current AASHTO standards.

The 2017 Edition of the Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and
Testing and AASHTO Provisional Standards, commonly referred to as the Materials Standards, contains
specifications, test methods, and provisional standards used in the construction of highway facilities.
Following is a description of the enhanced features of the web-based format, as well as
information on purchasing a subscription.

ANNUAL ONLINE SUBSCRIPTION AND AUTOMATIC UPDATES

The web-based Materials Standards are available as a 12-month subscription. Once you
purchase a subscription, you’ll have immediate online access, with nothing to download or install. As a
current subscriber, you automatically receive access to all updates published during your subscription period.

THREE ANNUAL UPDATES

The Materials Standards are now updated three times annually—in April, June, and August—with updates grouped by subject areas.
• The April 2017 Update included 4 new and 25 revised standards, and updated the sections on Hydraulic Cement and Lime, Fresh Concrete,
Hardened Concrete, Pavement Measurement, Bridge and Pavement Preservation, and Quality Assurance and Environmental.
• The June 2017 Update included 8 new and 26 revised standards, and updated the sections on General Manufactured Materials, including
Concrete Drainage Structures, Flexible and Metallic Pipe, Markings and Coatings, and Safety Devices.
• The August 2017 Update included 8 new and 23 revised standards, and updated the sections on Geotechnical, and Bituminous Materials and
Mixtures.

To meet transportation and highway engineers’ need to access AASHTO Materials and Testing standards in
the office, in the field, and in a variety of formats, AASHTO is now offering print and PDF subject compilations
from the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing,
and the AASHTO Provisional Standards, 2017 Edition.

17 subject compilations are now available.

AASHTO LRFD BRIDGE DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS, 8TH EDITION

The AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications are intended for
use in the design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of bridges, and are
mandated by the Federal Highway Administration for use on all
bridges using federal funding. The specifications employ the Load and
Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) methodology, using factors developed
from current statistical knowledge of loads and structural performance.
This new 8th edition includes revisions to almost all sections of the
specifications. It supersedes the 2014 7th edition and its 2015 and 2016
interim revisions. 2017. 1,780 pp.

SPECIFICATIONS, 8TH EDITION
Now Available!
The AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
are intended for use in the design, evaluation, and
rehabilitation of bridges, and are mandated by the
Federal Highway Administration for use on all
bridges using federal funding. The specifications
employ the Load and Resistance Factor Design
(LRFD) methodology, using factors developed from
current statistical knowledge of loads and structural
performance. This new 8th edition includes revisions
to almost all sections of the specifications. It supersedes
the 2014 7th edition and its 2015 and 2016 interim
revisions. 2017. 1,780 pp.
