SUMMER FEEDING
Turnip the Beet Award Winners for Georgia
U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) launched Turnip the Beet in 2016 and continued the
award program for a second year in 2017. The award program recognizes Summer Meal Programs’ sponsors who are
working hard to serve nutritious and appealing meals during the summer months. There are three award levels—gold,
silver, and bronze. Nominees are evaluated by USDA on a wide range of nutrition and meal quality criteria. We are happy
to announce that 19 sponsors in Georgia have been selected as awardees:
These 19 sponsors are among an elite group of 111 award-winning sponsors nationwide. On behalf of Georgia Department
of Education we would like to congratulate all the winners from Georgia for their dedication to child nutrition and particu-
larly their special attention to the quality of summer meals.
