Question 5
My uncle, Sam, is almost 70 years old. He wears a pair of round spectacles that look
large for his small wrinkled face. He has a short but thick beard. It is partially grey. How large
is his family? He does not have a family at all. He is a bachelor and a happy one too. He stays
in a small house in a calm village by the Mada River in Kedah. He has been staying there for
almost thirty years.
In the morning, he takes a short walk around the neighbourhood enjoying the cool
fresh air. He likes to listen to birds’ chirping in the morning as it makes him very happy. Then
after a simple breakfast, he goes to work in the paddy fields a short distance away from his
house. He works until 11 a.m. Despite his age, he is never resting. From noon onwards, he
works in his vegetable farm. He grows many types of vegetables. When they are harvested, he
sells some of them. He gives away the rest free to several poor families in the neighbourhood.
He feels happy to be of help to them.
Not surprisingly, my uncle is well-liked and even children enjoy listening to his
stories. He is very thrilled to see children smiling. He is indeed a happy man without any
worries.
