Description: Biperiden is an
Parkinsonian anticholinergic agent w/ Urinary retention, dry
syndrome marked effect on the CNS mouth, constipation,
especially to which is important for its nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia,
counteract therapeutic application and blurred vision, mydriasis, dry
muscular rigidity has weak peripheral eyes, tachycardia,
and tremor; vegetative effects. The arrhythmia, dizziness,
extrapyramidal mechanism of action is drowsiness, headache,
symptoms considered to relate to hallucinations, memory
competitive antagonism of impairment, confusion,
acetylcholine at cholinergic insomnia, worsening of

Untreated narrow-angle glaucoma,
mechanical stenoses in the GI tract,
paralytic ileus, megacolon, prostatic
adenoma and diseases that can lead
to perilous tachycardia.

1. Advice patient to take the medication with meals.
2. Assess for parkinsonism, EPS.
3. Assess for mental status.
4. Assess patient response if anticholinergics are given.
5. Assess for tolerance over long term therapy, dosage may have to be
increased or changed.
6. Avoid activities that require alertness, may cause dizziness and
blurring of vision.
7. This drug may cause drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision, if
patient is affected, do not let him/her drive or operate machinery.
8. Advice patient not to drink alcoholic beverages to prevent drug-
food interaction.
9. Monitor patient’s vital signs.
10. Reassess patient’s condition when the medication is expected to
take effect.
