Use of Language and Mathematical Relationships
• ELEC2100 is about learning a set of languages (mathematics, English, and Matlab) and the
practice of the use of a fundamental set of mathematical relationships to model engineering
problems related to signal processing, communication, and control
• There will be a lot of mathematical symbols but the course is not about solving math problems.
This course is about the practice of the use of the language.
• We will solve problems to demonstrate the understanding of the language, but ELEC2100 is
not about mathematical problem solving, it is about the use of language.
• The mathematical relationships that we will use are those that you should have already
learned. They are summarized in a “Key Mathematical Relationships” handout.
