CHANNEL DRILL FOR MID-HOLE

PURPOSE

To assure the accuracy of drilling a mid-hole profile ranging from 20mm up to 60mm width.

DESIGN

This design mainly used for small scale production by skilled machinist because the work piece
difficult to hold without special equipment.

The workpiece is located and clamped to a base that is suitable for a number of operations.

Jig: by guiding the cutting tool which is drill with bush component to make a hole of the
alunium piece.

Fixtures: by holding the Aluminium piece into placing it to the base area.
HOW IT WORKS AS JIGS AND FIXTURES

STEP 1: PREPARATION

1. The cross sectional of the jigs resembles a channel.

2. An Aluminium Block workpiece was fitted whithin the channel located and
clamped with clamp nut.
3. The rectangular plate was holding the workpiece with single clamp nut so that the
work piece does not move easily.

STEP 2: DRILLING

1. The drill was guided through the drill bush.

2. The drilling process proceed.

STEP 3: FINISHING

1. By using finishing equipment provided such as boring bar for large hole or a reamer for
small hole.
