Torque Converter, Transmission And Transfer Gears

SMCS - 3101-077

Connection Of Torque Converter To Transmission

1. Fasten a 3/4"-10 NC forged eyebolt (2) and a hoist to torqe converter (3) as shown.

2. Make sure O-ring seals (1) are in position on the transmission case, and put clean transmission oil
on them.

3. Install O-ring seal (5) around the transmission case, and put clean transmission oil on it.

4. Put torque converter (3) in position on the transmission with dowels (4) on the transmission in
alignment with the holes in the torque converter housing. Install the nuts and bolts that hold it in
place.

5. Check O-ring seal (6) on the shaft for wear or damage. If necessary, make a replacement.

6. Install O-ring seal (7) on the transmission pump, and put clean transmission oil on it.

7. Put transmission oil pump (8) in position on the torque converter, and install the six bolts that hold
it.

8. Put tube assembly (9) in position on the transmission oil pump and transfer gear case. Install the
four bolts that hold it.

9. Fasten a nylon strap and a hoist to hydraulic pump (11) as shown.

10. Put O-ring seal (10) in position on the hydraulic pump, and put clean transmission oil on it.

11. Put hydraulic pump (11) in position on the transmission oil pump, and install the two bolts that
hold it.

12. Install O-ring seals (12) on outlet relief valve (13), and put clean transmission oil on them.

13. Put outlet relief valve (13) in position on the torque converter, and install the three bolts that hold
it.
