Infancy and toddlerhood

1. Explains at least two physical developmental milestones that typically

developing children should attain during this period of development.
The first physical developmental milestone that children should attain is their brain. “the
prefrontal cortex becomes a more effective “executive”—overseeing and managing the
integrated functioning of various areas, yielding more complex, flexible, and adaptive
thinking and behavior (Blakemore & Choudhury, 2006; Lenroot & Giedd, 2006).”
Secondly, the physical development that i chose was puberty. I chose this because it
one of the most important function of the human body the action that turn boys into
men and girls into women.

2. Explains at least two language developmental milestones that typically

developing children should achieve in this period of development.
A language development milestone that children should achieve is semantic
development. This is when children are able to comprehend word and simple
commands such as “don't touch the lamp” or “put that down”. Event though they are
unable to construct their own reply there able to understand the words within the
sentence. The second development children should learn is grammar. Grammatical
development allows for better communication. “When presented with video images of
objects, toddlers of both ages oriented more quickly and more accurately toward the
correct object following grammatical sentences.”(Berk, L. E. (2013)

3. Explains at least two cognitive developmental milestones that typically

developing children should achieve in this period of development.
Within the cognitive development milestone i believe the sensorimotor stage is one of
the most important times in a child's life, because it teaches them how to move around
and discover how there body and senses work. “ For example, they open their mouths
differently for a nipple than for a spoon. And they start to anticipate events: A hungry
3-month-old is likely to stop crying as soon as his mother enters the room—a signal that
feeding time is near.” (Berk, L. E. (2013)

4. Explains at least one sign that may signal a typical development during this
period of development.
The normal typical sign of development in this stage of a child's life would be the
pronunciation of words.
5. Describes at least one strategy that families can use to influence their
children’s learning and development during this period of development.
There are many different strategies that families can use to influence their child, but the
easiest way to be a great influence is to just be an active role model. Talk to your child
build their communication skills and play with them to test the cognitive movement.
6. Incorporates at least two images that relate to physical, language, or
cognitive development for this period of development to enhance the visual
appeal of your fact sheets.
