1 GENERAL STATEMENT
After laying, DN400 steel pipeline shall be tested under pressure, such test shall be
made before the flange joints be completely backfilled.
The test can not include all the pipes and fittings, The remain part which will not be
included during the pressure tested will be checked visually during operation of
pump.

4 METHODOLOGY
1. Weld the DN15 steel pipe to the 2 pcs DN400 blank flanges, Fix these two blank
flanges to the ends of DN400 rising main as attached drawing.
2. Fill water through the lowest point, The air releasing valve keep open for releasing
air.
3. Use hand pump to rise the pressure steadily to the 10 bar and maintain this
nominal pressure for at 24.
4. Thereafter, the pressure shall be increased steadily to 15 bar. (The test pressure
should be 10*1.5=15bar)
5. After a period of half an hour, the fall in test pressure shall be recorded and
sufficient water again pumped into the line under test, to bring the pressure back
to the test pressure. The procedure shall be repeated every half-an-hour for a total
period of 3 hours, and the amount of water pumped in recorded.
6. The acceptable leakage amount is less than 1 litre of water per 10 mm diameter of
pipe per km of length of pipeline, for each 24 hours and for every 30 m head, the
pipe line will be considered to have passed the test.
∑ V (litres) < = D/10 *L/1 *T/24*P/30=400/10*0.28/1*3/24*150/30=7L
7. After passing the pressure test, remove the DN400 blank flanges to release the
test water. (Disinfection of the raw water pipeline is not necessary)
