Gandaberunda Narasimha

One of my favourute forms of Narasimha is Gandaberunda. Here he has 8 faces, 32 hands.

Worship of each face will grant one with different powers such as worship of the horse face will
grant knowledge, the varaha or boar face will help destroy enemies.

I frequently get turned off by people who give more importance to stories around these deities,
such as origin of pratyangira to subdue Narasimha, or sharabha to subdue Narasimha. People get
caught in all these stories that they fail to appreciate the beauty of the lord. Pratyangira is also a
beautiful and a very powerful form of the goddess. In fact, Indrajit tried worshipping Pratyangira
as Nikumbalika Devi and was stopped by Lakshmana before Indrajit was killed.

Gandaberunda is one of the most powerful forms of prayogams we know of in the current world.
The upasana requires one to maintain celibacy atleast till he gets siddhi. As a basic qualification
one requires initiation into Narasimha Anushtup Mantra before he can start Gandaberunda
Narasimha. If I can recall, there are about 4 or 5 Gandaberunda temples (all in AP).

I have performed Gandaberunda yagnams and the power is unimaginable, especially as

protection against negative energies and to break related Graha Bandhams.

It is one of the most fierceful forms of Narasimha. He has 8 heads: Monkey or Vanara,
Varaha or Boar, Baluka or Bear, horse faced, garuda or eagle faced, vyagra or tiger faced,
mrigaraja or lion faced and pakshi or bird faced. Worship of each face grants one with the
appropriate siddhis.
It is a very powerful prayogam and this prayogam if rightly done canot be countered by
any other prayogams. Gandaberunda Kalpa is a book in telugu describing the pooja
vidhanams written by a Gandaberunda upaska who is no more.

In Gandaberunda homam for protection or dikbandanam , 12 forms of Narasimha are

worhipped, each form has a different colour , the weapon they hold are different (eg
shoola hasta or so..)

I will try locating the book. But what would be your purpose for trying
Gandaberunda. The mantra is typically given after the sadhaka completes
a good amount of ashtakshara and mantraraja. Once I met a person who
was telling me about somebody whom he had met near Matapalli and was
engaged in Gandaberunda sadhana. Something went wrong and the old
man had lost his eye sight but still after rectifications undertaking the
sadhana. Strict celibacy needs to be maintained.
However, there are people who are still engaged in the sadhana and have
completed purascharana of the mantra. One of the great upasakas of this
form had passed away last year. He has built a Gandaberunda temple in
vizak.

You need to find a mantra guru who will guide you. Siddhi and success of
the mantra will be routed through the guru. My friend was telling me
about how through his guru’s grace he was able to see the deities in
physical form after completion of the prescribed rounds of a mantra. It is
always not the deity acting directly but through the guru. He was
mentioning about how guru can grant you many siddhis by his grace.
In my experience, I have never had one guru. I had a guru who first gave
me some initial mantras to start. As I finished rounds, more and more
advanced techniques came to me. So start somewhere, depending on your
power, gurus will come to you

At the bare minimum, you need to find out your kula devata temple and do
service to this temple (atleast once a year). If not , atleast support some of
the Narasimha temples which require financial support

Respected Sir,
Grateful thanks for posting a highly useful information about Sri Gandabherunda
Narasimha.
I have been instructed to do upasana of Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha, when I was in the
hospital after undergoing a major surgery for tongue cancer. After I returned home, from
reliable sources I have received few mantras on Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha and the
upasana padhdhati is first to do mantra japam of Sri Narayana Ashtakshari, followed with
Sri Narasimha Anushtup, followed with Gandabherunda Moola mantram.

I understand that there are numerous forms for Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha starting
with 8 faces and expanding to 11, 16, 32, 64 etc and also 12 different forms with his
consort. We are in the process of establishing a TEMPLE TRUST for construction of Sri
Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha Devasthanam, do vigraha pratishta of all forms
of Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha as per divine instructions given to me in my swapnam;

We are looking for detailed information and are in the look out for ancient scriptures on
Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha. I understand that Atharvana Veda Rahasyam,
mantrasaram, Narasimha kalpam contains elaborate details on Sri Gandabherunda
Narasimha and Vishnu Yamalam also contains elaborate details on Sri Gandabherunda
Narasimha and Sri Prathyangira (Narasimhi, Simlakshmi roopam).

I request you to help us by furnishing details of upasakas of Sri Gandabherunda

Narasimha who can guide us in our temple project and also who can help us by providing
various mantras, stothras, upasana, pooja padhdhati, various forms of Sri Gandabherunda
Narasimha.

Sri Shrinivaasan
Respected Sir,
Sorry to read about your health setback; do not worry; my health was also
affected 15 months ago and I underwent a major surgery for tongue
cancer; my tongue was removed and tongue reconstruction was done by
plastic surgery using flesh from my left hand; I was in the hospital for one
month and after that I underwent radio therapy for two months; I was
immobile for nearly 8 months and now started moving around; while I was
in the hospital I had divya darshan of Sri Narasimha with Sri Lakshmi; I
was instructed to do Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha upasana and I was
initiated by a Guruji, still I am in entry level in the upasana; an oil painting
of Sri Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha with Simhalakshmi [i.e.
Lakshmi also with lion's face] was created and started worship for the past
8 months; a panchaloha vigraha pratishta of Sri Ashtamukha
Gandabherunda Narasimha, having 32 arms with Sri Simahalakshmi on
his left lap will be done on 5th May 2012, being Narasimha Jayanthi, at
Chennai ; we are performing Sri Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha
yagnam, every Swati star day at Chennai; after we get further instructions
from Sri Narasimha, we wish to proceed with building a temple for Sri
Gandabherunda Narasimha. Sri Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha
upasana can be followed only by a Brahmachari or a married male who
had crossed the age of 40 – 50 and who does not have any conjugal
relationship. Maintaining absolute celibacy is very much essential and that
is the prescribed qualification for this upasana. Females cannot practice
this upasana since it alters hormone level due to excess energy / heat
produced in the body due to the efficacy of mantra japam. This is a very
powerful upasana and should be used only for spiritual progress and not
for any commercial gains or popularity or power. Its results are amazing to
the true follower, since Narasimha’s grace and mercy is abundant. There
are several steps that one has to cross before taking up Sri Ashtamukha
Gandabherunda Narasimha Upasana and they are: 1] Trikala
sandhyavandanam with 108 count Gayathri japam, 2] Narayana
Ashtakshari Japam, 3] Nrisimha Anushtup Mantra japam, 4] Narasimha
Sudarsana Bijakshara mantra japam, 4] Hayagriva mantra japam, 5]
Varaha mantra japam, 6] Garuda mantra japam, 7] Hanumath mantra
japam, 8] Yajur lakshmi mantra japam, 9] Jwala Narasimha mantra japam,
10] Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Jwala Sudarsana Narasimha mantra
japam then starts individual 8 faces mantra japam. Once you are ready
with mantra japa siddhi, then start performing Gandabherunda Yantra
Avarana Pooja by performing digbandhana mantra japam of 12 forms of
Gandabherunda Narasimha. Whatever little knowledge I have gained by
the grace of Sri Narasimha, I have shared it here. You can reach me
through email on: ksnmail@gmail.com.

In continuation of my recent communication, I also request you to help us by providing

atleast xerox copy of ancient scriptures on Sri Gandabherunda Narasimha available with
you. If you can spare few hours of your valuable time, I wish to meet you in person and
request you to give me your contact address details, email ID, phone number etc and
oblige. The Himalayan and Herculian effort on which we have commenced our journey
to establish Sri Gandhaberunda Narasimha devasthanam is absolutely not for any
personal or monetary gain but purely as a service to the society so that thousands of
people can visit the shire and seek his divine grace. Please join and help us in our efforts
and service.

Dear Sri Narayana Dasan,

Dasan, Adiyen, Narayanan

Your blog is highly informative and useful.

There is a stotram by title Sri Narasimha Dwadrimsat Bijamala Stotram and it is on Sri
Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha. Each stotram starts with each alphabet of
Narasimha anushtup mantram.

This stotram is available at http://www.prapatti.com and you may add a link to this in
your blog so that thousands of Narasimha devotees can be benefited. It gives description
of Sri Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha and the weapons he holds in his arms, his
grace and grandeur.
It was composed by Sri Bharadwaja Maharishi, might be he was a great upasaka of Sri
Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha.

Dasan, Adiyen, Narayanan

I request you to help by providing – 1] Sahasranama Stotram, 2] Sahasranamavali, 3]

Ashtotara Satanama Stotram, 4] Ashtotara Satanamavali, 5] Kavacham, 6] Hrudayam, 7]
Suktam, 8] Upanishad, 9] Prapatti, 10] Mangalam, 11] moola mantram, 12] mala
mantram, 13] samputikarana mantram, 14] gayatri, 15] ashtakam, 16] dandagam /

ASHTAMUKHA GANDA BHERUNDA NARASIMHA which I wish to publish as a
book with moolam in Sanskrit and translation in Tamil for the benefit of thousands of
Narasimha devotees.

My humble wish is that this proposed book should serve as an encyclopaedia on Sri
Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha. This book can be offered both in printed and
eBook version. I can render my service in releasing the book in both versions. eBook
version has an advantage that it can be uploaded in your blog site so that Narasimha
devotees across the globe can download it.

I am rendering astrology [for the past 25 years] and vastu guidance [for the past 12 years]
as a FREE SERVICE, on SUNDAYS. I am also associated as a creative digital designer
of an astrology eBook by title KP-Ezine. Hence creating eBook on Sri Ashtamukha
Gandabherunda Narasimha is possible by his absolute grace.

Hope my request will be considered and will get all the assistance and guidance from you
as a divine wish of Sri Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Narasimha.

If our ancient maharishis, acharyas, mahans are selfish, they would not have written the
scriptures in palm leaf as manuscript; they did it for the benefit of millions of people. We
cannot even dream of what they have achieved and given to the society but atleast as a
micro level dust of their padhatuli, I wish to do my best to the society in a humble
manner.
