Instruction for PCM 600 Revision: B

project conversion – 1MRK116-318
application configuration

Background
When an upgrade of the IED has been done, or a configuration used for version 1.1
is to be used for 1.1 r 01 the representing IED object in PCM 600 must be upgraded
to the correct version/revision as well. This document describes how the user shall
do this in a step by step instruction. By following this instruction you will not loose
any already made configuration work.

How to upgrade an IED object in PCM 600 for 670 series products
Start PCM 600 and open the PCM project where the IED object can be found
Start CAP531 and generate a CAP template from the existing Configuration.

NOTE: It is assumed that the converted project has already the proper communication
structure defined before taking the next steps. This means that the user must import
the *.scd file containing the communication configuration over the project before
upgrading the IED revision. After upgrading the IED revision, it is not allowed to
import an old *.scd file (including data before migration) because the short
addresses will be overwritten by the original (wrong).

Open the “IED Revision Upgrade” tool

Open CAP531 again and insert the previously made CAP531 template. The
previously generated template could be found under Terminal Type “REx6701B” for
1.B Modules and under Terminal Type “x670_x11” for 1.1 Modules.

Update the configuration. If there are any errors, the list will be displayed.

Double left click on the Error and it will take you to the function block.

The error could be corrected either by replacing the function block or by deleting
and inserting new function block.
Compile CAP531 and correct any compilation errors.
Another example of a typical error caused by a change in a function block is when
the function has got/taken away inputs and outputs:

After upgrade:

In this case, the new output “Position” is created, leading to a “Datatypes not
matching” error message.
The user must disconnect the signals in question, and reconnect them to the right
outputs.
After this error processing, exit CAP.
NOTE: It is important that the users are checking the CAP configuration for changes in
CSWI, XSWI and XCBR even if they don’t get error messages from CAP
compilation. If they don’t use the “Position” output – for example – they will never
get the “Different datatypes” error messages, but the signals will be still connected
to the wrong outputs (like QA1-CL-POS connected to the “OPENPOS” output). It is
important to check this function blocks in the CAP and revise the connections.

Open Parameter Setting Tool (PST) and verify setting parameters. Most functions
will retain the same settings as previously but some updated functions will be set
back to default value. The funstions that have changed and will have their
parameters set to default are: SAPTOF_81, SAPTUF_81, SCSWI, SXCBR, SXSWI
and TimeSync (only for 1.B)

The update process shouldn’t affect Signal Matrix (SMT) and Graphical Display
Editor (GDE) data. We would however recommend to open SMT and GDE to verify
that data has not been affected.
Now the IED Revision Upgrade is complete.
Now you can start communicating with updated IED and download Application
Configuration, SMT, GDE (if used) and PST data.
