Prayer to Saint Peter

Pray always, free us from some evils that afflict

us, be believers and pray always.
Prince of the Apostles and of the Catholic
Church: for that obedience with which you left
the first voice in the world to follow Christ; for
that faith with which you believed and
confessed your Son as the Son of God; for that
humility with which, seeing him at your feet,
you refused to wash them; for those tears with
which you bitterly mourned your denials; for
that vigilance with which you took care as
universal shepherd of the flock that had been
entrusted to you; finally, by that imponderable
fortress with which you gave for your
Redeemer of the crucified life, I beg you,
glorious Apostle, for your present successor the
Vicar of Christ.

Grant me to imitate those virtues of yours from

the Lord with the victory of all my passions; and
grant me especially the gift of repentance so
that, purified of all guilt, I may enjoy your kind
company in glory.
