It is a great honor to serve the people of this county whose name literally translated
means “ The foot stone of God”.
We are blessed with many natural resources being at the foot of the mountain. We
are a rich agrarian county because of this. We grow globally acclaimed coffee, the
best aroma c rice in the region and other cash crops including tea, macadamia and
hor culture.
We have developed a pioneer sub-na onal policy paper tled The Mountain Ci es
2032 as our guiding framework to transform and dignify the lives of the great people
of Kirinyaga.
Our vision is to make Kirinyaga the Wellness capital of the World by 2032
In 2017/2018 with a development budget of ksh1.2 billion, this report shows what
we have been able to achieve towards our vision of transforming the lives of the
Kirinyaga residents.

KIRINYAGA AGRICULTURE
Kirinyaga Rising!
Bumper Rice Harvest
Our rice harvest increased significantly during this period. The blasting of Quelea birds across our rice paddies greatly reduced the
negative effect the birds have on our harvest. We also enjoyed a favorable harvest from our other cash crops grown in this county.
Milk Preservation
The County received the first consignment of 3 milk coolers out of a total 33 from the National Government. The coolers will be
distributed to various cooperatives across the County.
