in that plane are able to pass through. Therefore, we
are able to use polarizers to manipulate light.

Solar tracking is becoming more and more used
for solar power. The image on the right shows a de-
vice that follows the sun and collects the solar energy.
A system like this can be connected to arduino and
works with a simple program. It takes the light intensity
read from three photocells and a motor responds to
the readings.

Convex lens
http://www.passmyexams.co.uk/GCSE/physics/concave_&_convex.
Convex lenses are thinner at the middle. Rays
of light that pass through the lens are spread out (they
diverge). A convex lens is a diverging lens. When par-
allel rays of light pass through a concave lens the re-
fracted rays diverge so that they appear to come from
one point called the principal focus. The distance be-
tween the principal focus and the centre of the lens is
called the focal length.

The different light sources create different ef-
fects. Depending on the space the sources can create
focused lighting, line lighting, diffused lighting, spot

This stunning powerful light box provides a fast
treatment in a stylish design. The 2 x 80W lights pro-
vide a 10000 Lux at 65cm so you can sit at a comfort-
able distance. The casing is of white steel and has a
sturdy prop to angle it on a table. It can also be hung
on the wall for extra versatililty and ideal for giving ev-
eryone in the office a light treatment. The curved dif-
fuser provides a light that is very gentle on the eyes.
The lamp also has a built in handle to ease moving it
around.

2E at Charles de Gaulle and near Gate R on the depar-
tures level of Orly’s West terminal are two dedicated
light-therapy areas equipped with white-light emitting
lamps, relaxation chairs, and a sound system playing
soothing music. Specially trained staff offer visitors a
brief explanation of the benefits of light therapy and
also offer brief massages.

The American-Lights® UV Air Cleaner is in-
stalled inside the air duct of home or office HVAC sys-
tems and covers up to 5,000 square feet. By treat-
ing the air which passes through the HVAC systems
with ultraviolet light, American-Lights® UV Air Cleaner
effectively reduces or eliminates the DNA-based air-
borne contaminants - bacteria, viruses, mold and
spores - that cause allergy, asthma attacks, sickness
and other respiratory conditions. infrared light therapy

using sunlight
www.parans.com
On roofs or facades, it collects incoming sunlight and
leads it into the Parans Optical Cable that makes the
flexible transport of sunlight into buildings possible.
The light is emitted back into the spaces using parans lighting
several different light fixtures. Some offer more fo-
cused light and others offer diffuse light. The system
can be incorporated into artificial lighting as well so
that light intensity is adjusted as needed.

we can’t think of a more appropriate name for this inno-
vative lighting design company which creates futuristic
lamps with fiber optics. Neues Licht wowed visitors at
last week’s Cologne Furniture Fair with this fabulous
