Blackheath
Music Appreciation
lectures
at Charlton House
Monday mornings with
Matthew Taylor
For the second series of our Charlton House residency Matthew Taylor returns to Tchaikovsky. Fifty
years ago he was the sure fire pot boiler of the concert halls, derided by a few, loved by the many.
Matthew now sets out on a voyage of rediscovery and re-appraisal of one of the great all rounders.
In this ten lecture series we will explore the better and lesser known works, symphonies serenades
and concertos as well as programme music, sonatas and quartets, and, yes, the ballet. Do come
along and enjoy this fresh look at Tchaikovsky.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the building works at Blackheath Halls, this series of lectures will take
place at the Old Library at Charlton House, Charlton Road, London SE7 8RE.
