The code is the same for all 3 games.
This effects all encounters in the dungeon. Note that this only
effects the enemies in the 1st position. Enemies behind those will
still show normally until they move into the 1st position, then
they become whatever the set enemy is for that encounter.
On a side note, the set enemies seem to have the basic strength of
the monsters they replaced. This encountering a group of kobolds
switched to Will O' Wisps, means only having to deal a handful of
damage to take them down.
XP values given for each monster are for 1 on 1 encounters. That
value will be divided amongst your total party members.
