BMI View: The enterprise IT market in the United Arab Emirates benefits from the greater economic diversification of
the country compared to most GCC peers, while retail PC vendors are able to target an affluent consumer base. There
are medium term opportunities such as premium PCs, data analytics, cyber security, cloud computing and Internet of
Things solutions that will be tapped as the economy records steady growth. There is however downside risk because of
the UAE's position in a volatile region.
● Hardware Sales: AED5.7bn in 2018 to AED5.9bn in 2021. PC spending under pressure from the
cannibalisation of tablet and notebook use cases by smartphones, but purchasing power growth should
create opportunities at the premium end of the market.
● Software Sales: AED2.9bn in 2018 to AED3.8bn in 2021. Data analytics and cyber security software demand
is set to increase in order to process larger sources of data from an increasingly networked society.
● IT Services Sales: AED11.5bn in 2018 to AED14.6bn in 2021. The increased integration of IT by oil and gas
companies will be a positive trend, alongside digitisation and smart city spending by the government.
