ACTION REPORT

Plant : U6500
Item : RV_F6502_1, _2, & _3
Subject : Corroded Threads on the Inlet Body Section

Findings:

The Relief Valves inlet body section had corroded threads. These threads are for locking the nozzle assembly.

Recommendation(s):

Restore the threads via weld buildup (half bead technique) and machining.
1. Clean the affected area. Remove corrosion flakes, dirt, debris, etc.
2. Pre-heat the area up to 150°C.
3. Weld the area using E7018 electrode. Weld a layer to a total thickness of 3 mm.
4. Remove the 1.5 mm layer via light grinding.
5. Weld again the area using E7018 electrode up to the desired thickness.
6. Smoothen. Remove sharp edges and burrs.
7. Perform DPT and Visual Inspection of the surface. Check for discontinuities.
8. Machine the surface to restore the threads. Thread size and pitch to be provided by Valve Maintenance
Team.
9. Perform another DPT and Visual Inspection.
