An- Nur Childcare.

Karam your last sorry was about how much of a keen and diligent learner you are. You
have been developing the non-verbal gestures alongside some words to express your
feelings verbally. This term, our Islamic Programme planning was about the coming event
‘Ramadan’. We as teachers implement the strategies that encourage you Karam, to keep a
responsive and reciprocal relationship with us and gain the confidence to express yourself,
who you are, and reach the goal of being a ‘competent learner’. To
further extend your understanding about ‘Ramadan’ we read stories
related to Ramadan, made a telescope for the moon sighting, made a
lantern as a decoration and finally Eid card, to celebrate your
happiness with the family. We baked shortbread biscuits and ate
them whilst discussing information about the five pillars of Islam by
singing the ‘I am Muslim’ song. I noticed your great interest in the
song and noticed you following the actions along with the other
children very well. I was very amazed when your mum mentioned,
how at home you have been singing this song very in tune. I also
noticed your interest in all the acted; Suhoor and Iftar pretend play.
During the day I noticed you giving us a smile. I also observed you quietly mumbling during
the time of reciting the Dua for breaking the fast. I noticed you listening very carefully
when discussed how important it was to eat healthy throughout the day and drink as much
water as possible as it is good for our body to flush out all the wastes. It was also good to
drink water as we were planning to fast until lunch time during the Ramadan period. You
then left the table and pointed to the blinking lights and giggled to express the feeling of
joy.

What is happening?
Observation shows Karam is building confidence relating to the understanding of Ramadan
virtues and expressing his non-verbal gestures. You are also developing the understanding
that verbal communication is a source of joy and a great method of expressing your
feelings.
How can we extend this learning?
Staff will continue supporting your interest in verbal communication by keeping a
reciprocal and interactive relationship with you. Staff will also facilitate you with a variety
of props that will stimulate your imagination and creativity. We will also continue singing
the “I am Muslim” song and reciting Quran Surah with you to support your confidence in
verbal communication.

I have my telescope! Now I

can go for the moon sighting.
I love when teacher turns the
light off for us so we can pretend
sleep and then wake up for
sohoor to eat.
