country

CSE DEPARTMENT:
Vision:
The vision of the department is to provide fundamental Computer Science knowledge to engineering
students enabling them to contribute in real world problem solving by undertaking sponsored research and
consultancy beneficial to the society and publishing research findings in reputed journals leading to the
establishment of centres of excellence in emerging technologies.
Mission:
The Mission of the Department is to help the society by providing quality Computer Science education
to engineers with the ability to undertake research and solve real world problems with emerging
technologies.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Post Graduate programme in Software Engineering (ME-SE) are to produce
software engineers who:
PEO1: Excel in professional career including industrial, academic, research and entrepreneurial careers.
PEO2: Handle end-to-end lifecycle of various types of software projects by performing various roles of
software engineers including process modelling, architecture, quality assurance, software engineering
management and re-engineering activities
PEO3: Engage in continued learning through research activities and creation of innovative solutions to
real-life problems using emerging software technologies and development methodologies
PEO4: Possess professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills and
multidisciplinary approach.

ROLE OF ALUMNI

Alumni: Alumni are the major source of strength to the department. They help in revising the syllabus to
meet the current industrial, academic and research needs by being members of Board of Studies. They
also provide timely feedback to the students in alumni meetings and during their departmental visits.

ALUMNI FEEDBACK AND EMPLOYER FEEDBACK IS OBTAINED FOR ASSESSING THE

PEOs

COMMITTEES
Committees involved in checking the attainment of POs which build PEOs include:

a) Faculty-in-charge of course

Prepares and uploads the course plan.

Evaluates internal tests, tutorials, assignment presentations to monitor the attainment of POs in their
course.

b) Programme Assessment team

Consists of Head of the department, programme coordinator and tutors of ME-SE classes. It is
responsible for proper conduct of the programme.

Interacts and maintains liaison with key stake holders including students, faculty, and employer.

Monitors and reviews the activities of each semester in programme (I/II, III/IV) through class
committee meetings.

Communicates about attendance and performance of students to their parents.

c) Department Advisory team (Senior Faculty Team) (Programme Advisory Team)

Advisory team consists of Head, Programme Coordinator, senior faculty including professors and
associate professors.

Discuss current and future issues related to the department.

Motivates the faculty towards attending workshops, carrying out research projects and publishing
papers.

Recommend and facilitate workshops, faculty development programmes, meetings or conferences to

meet the course outcomes

The above helps in attaining POs and PEOs.

d) Student Project evaluation committee: The attainment of learning and research capability of the
student is assessed through the progress of the project work. It is held 4 times in a semester to assess the
progress.
