Waseem Akram Leadership Assignment no: 2 ME113077

Answer no 1:
Rohingya Muslims are in crisis now a days because of Myanmar government lack of ignorance
and atrocities towards them. The recent refugee camps and fleeing of Muslims is not a least
picture in Myanmar. Myanmar government troops are killing Muslims brutally in Rakhine state
who are actually 5% in Myanmar. This recent killing of Muslims in Rakhine state is considered as
ethnic cleansing by United Nations. Also this issue created a lot of hatred in Muslim world
towards Myanmar and its so called puppet government is blindfolding towards this issue. This
issue is important because it’s a massacre on the state level in which state is also involved.
Rohingya people are humans before considering Muslims and killing of humans in such a level is
frightening. Main issues linked with Rohingya Muslims is their populace perspective towards
them which is brain washed by their local and national religious leaders.

Answer no 2:
Historically Rohingya Muslims were always considered as outside people in Myanmar. They
were the residents of Arakan since 4th century because archeological evidence supports the
early Indian kingdoms in that area. After that, Muslims arrival at that bay was spotted in 8 th
century. Islamic culture and merchants arrived and settled in that era. Also in 14 th century,
Bengali Muslims settlers also arrived with military expansion. Arakan was invaded by British Raj
and some people fled. During WW2, British controlled Arakan while Japan controlled the half of
Burma. This polarized and triggered the violence between Rohingya Muslims and Buddhists.
After WW2, they tried to be with Pakistan but weren’t successfully done. After that immigration
Burmese independence happened. But after military coup in 1962, they were deprived of their
rights.

Answer no 3:
The root cause of this latest genocide is a small incident in which a false allegation of rape was
made and the local monks posted these false allegations on their social pages. So people
become furious and outrageous. This created hatred in their government and army. Then the
militants attacked some check posts in Rakhine state and army started cleansing operations
against them. While they also started killing Rohingya Muslims with it. The hidden motives

behind these were ethnic cleansing. And these motives were achieved in different eras by
massacre.

Answer no 4:
Reasons behind this whole scenario were to kill the Muslims because they were deprived of any
rights and citizenship in Myanmar. So they are not considered as lawful citizen of any country in
this world. Aung San Suu Kyi won the Nobel peace prize and she is now state counselor of
Myanmar but still she is hiding these brutal killing on the state level because Myanmar religious
Burmese leaders are in power and want ethnic cleansing. In my opinion, these killing were done
because of religious extremism in the people of Myanmar. Myanmar top monks are creating
and spreading this issue to get support from public. Also populace believes in their opinion
without thinking.

Answer no 5:
In this whole scenario, various leadership negative roles can be seen. The most important role in
every situation comes to state because state is responsible at all. State and Nobel peace prize
holder is ignoring the Rohingya Muslims. Also state denied the UN commission to check the
refugees at Rakhine. So state, military and government are playing a negative role in this whole
issue. World leaders are also not giving a proper attention towards ethnic cleansing. This shows
a negative perspective of the world leaders which wants to create a peaceful world but this
can’t be achieved by solving the Rohingya issue.
