Construction and method of operation:

The three-phase spring pressure single-disk brake contains an exciter system

(1) guided on the stud bolts (7).
The anchor (2) is connected to the exciter system by pan-head bolts (9) when
the brake is supplied.
The compression springs (5) are already fitted.
The anchor and the exciter system can therefore be mounted as a complete
unit.
The ring (3) is held at a distance from the exciter system by the compression
springs (8).
The friction disc (4) is supported by the anchor via the dog (11).

Braking is achieved when the anchor (2) is pressed against the friction disc (4)
by the compression springs (5) that are supported in the exciter system (1).

Release is achieved by applying the operating voltage to the exciter system.

The force of the compression springs (5) is overcome and the anchor is free.

Dismantling:

- Switch the controller off, switch off the main switch and secure it against
being accidentally switched on (padlock).
- Screw in pan-head bolt (9).
- Remove faulty brake.

Size of pan-head bolt (9) for dismantling:

Moving gear: M4*40

Assembly:

- Check that the dog (11) is firmly seated, replacing it if necessary.

- Fasten the flange (10) with stud bolts (7) to the motor. Insert the pan-head
bolts (12) using "Loctite 241“.
- Push the friction plate (13) over the stud bolts (7).
- Push the ring (3) over the stud bolts (7).
- Push the friction disc (4) onto the dog (11).
- Place the compression springs (8) into the corresponding holes in the ring
(3).
- Push the pre-assembled unit (of the exciter system and the anchor, held
together by pan-head bolt (9)) over the stud bolts (7).
- Tighten the hexagonal nuts (6) in a diagonally alternating sequence.
- Remove pan-head bolt (9).
- Adjust the air gap S to an even 0.3 mm by means of the hexagonal
nuts (6).
- Check the entire circumference of the brake with a feeler gauge.

Inspect the air gap all the way round the brake with
the aid of a feeler gauge.
The brake will experience more wear if the
adjustment is uneven.
