Did You Feel the Spirit?

A faithful
member of
our con-
gregation
pulled me
aside after
Sunday’s
service of
our Annual
Campaign
finale.
They said, “If someone didn’t feel the
Spirit present in the worship service or
the luncheon afterward, then they’re
never going to feel it!” Wow. I agree.
But I am amazed that we felt that in a
service asking for money.
However, that’s not what that
service was about—asking for money.
Our worship celebrated the many min-
istries that take place in our church. It
recognized all of you who work so hard
to proclaim Christ’s gospel through
our church family. And it called out all
who give faithfully to make all of these
ministries possible. Thank you.
I think there were several reasons
why Sunday was such a success. First
of all, the many volunteers who did
such a great job making sure every-
thing worked out perfectly. Our staff
is wonderful. I know you know this,
but behind the scenes, all of our staff
does a great job! And the “above and
beyond the call of duty award” goes to
Jeff Williams and Karla and JC Ma-
han, who donated and cooked all of
the scrumptious meats for the dinner.
They started the cooking process on
Friday night and didn’t finish until Sun-
day morning. And it was well worth it!!

Always Glad We Returned! by Don Mecoy
Worship Gathering with our church family in Estes Park, Colo., has been an annual pleasure for the past
decade for the Mecoys. Each year, we consider going elsewhere for our summer vacation, but
at First Christian just can’t resist that spectacular setting, the varied activities, the fellowship and the absence of
8:15, 9 & 11am dish-washing. At the conclusion of each of our annual visits to the Rockies, we are always glad
we returned.
