The girders shall be cast on the ground near bridge site. The stressing shall be done when cube
strength of concrete reached 32 MPa. Thereafter the girders will be launched / shifted to the bridge
location and placed on permanent bearings and deck slab & diaphragm shall be casted.
Loss due to Relaxation for low Relaxation steel as per Table 4A of IRC:18 - 2000
at average initial force of 0.5 fp is 0 MPa
at average initial force of 0.7 fp is 97 MPa
at average initial force of 0.8 fp is 200 MPa

INTRODUCTION
It is proposed to construct a R.O.B. at Pankha road in lieu of level crossing No.-13-B
at Delhi - Rewari Section.
The bridge is meant for two lanes of traffic with 2.5 m wide footpath on one side and
has a carriageway width of 7.5 m.Total length of span of R.O.B. is 32.19 m. Effective
span is 31.45 m c/c of bearings. The R.O.B. shall be supported on POT & POT cum
PTFE bearings provided under girders. The superstructure for the bridge shall consists
of cast-in-situ deck slab supported on post-tensioned precast girders. For Dimensional
details of superstructure refer drawing no. 201 / E - 01
From analysis it is observed that effects of SIDL are more in footpath side girder G3
while the the girder G1 at median side is much more influenced by live load in
comparision of other girders. But the girder G3 (footpath side girder ) is much more
influenced by total load (DL+SIDL+LL) in comparision to other girders. Sectional
properties are same. Refer the summary for DL, SIDL & Live Load effects presented
both for inner and outer girder in design note. Therefore the design of girder is carried
out for footpath side girder G3 and other girder is kept similar to footpath side girder.
While calculating the losses in prestress, firstly friction and slip losses are calculated
at different sections. Then the other losses are calculated at different stages and
different sections are checked for stresses under service and for ultimate capacity.
The girders will be cast on the ground near bridge site. The stressing shall be
done when cube strength of concrete reached 32 MPa. Thereafter the girders will be
launched / shifted to the bridge location and placed on temporary bearings over pier
caps. After the concrete in deck slab and diaphragms gained strength, the temporary
bearings will be removed and loads gets transferred to main bearings. It is assumed
that by the time temporary bearings will be removed i.e. load due to deck slab will be
transferred to the girder 28 days will be passed since the casting of the girders or
when cube strength of concrete reached at 40 MPa, whichever is later.
