Homework

As a Google school, we will continue setting our homework through Google Classroom. If
you are having any problems please visit the letters page of our website where answers
to Frequently Asked Questions are posted.

Each Friday the children will receive spelling and maths homework which will need to be handed in by
the following Tuesday. They may also receive a termly project linked to our topic work. We have
provided children with a plastic wallet to help prevent reading books being damaged or lost. It must
come to school e veryday.
Reading- Please ensure your child is reading at home as often as possible. Please write a comment
in their yellow reading record book to let us know how your child is getting on with reading at
home. It is really important that your child brings their book bag and reading record book to school
everyday. We have also included a list of activities to do once you have read the book .
Spellings- Spellings will be a game or task that helps your child practice a spelling rule they have
been practicing in class. Some children will also be set a weekly spelling test by their Read, Write Inc
teachers. Some children may also receive RWI spellings too.
Maths - M aths will consist of a game or activity that will support them in their learning in Maths
lessons for the following week, or review what they have covered in the current week.
Homework folders - we are providing your child with a plastic folder to store reading books and
homework.
New book donation . If your child loses their reading book, we are asking for £2 towards replacing
the book. This is paid through Parent Pay under ‘New book donation’. We welcome any other
donations you would like to give towards books for the school under the same payment name

It is important that your child brings their PE kit on the correct days so that they are wearing suitable
clothing and footwear for the activities they will be doing. Both classes have PE every Friday and
swimming every Monday. The children need a white round neck T-shirt, shorts and trainers. In the
winter months they may also need tracksuit bottoms and a jumper. If you wish for your child to be
excused from swimming or P.E, your child must have a note for Mr Waller.
