STANDARD ASTIND ' O' RINGS
TO BS 4518 : 1969 AND SMS 1588 as also BS 1806 ( Metric size in mm.)
OUR 'O'RING We have been manufacturing ' O' Rings of high quality for both Aircraft and Industrial
STANDARDS applications.
The need for standardisation has been felt by the consumers for a long time. It is as
an answer to this, that we standardised the same to British Standards BS 4518,
Swedish Standards SMS 1588 and BS 1806.
All these ' O' Rings will be availiable with us ex-stock or very early deliveries can be
arranged.
OUR MATERIAL Our standard material is: Auto Steel Grade - 36170 with 70 - 75 Shore -A..This grade
STANDARDS of Nitrile Rubber is found suitable for majority of applications.
SELECTION OF However, the advancement in Rubber Technology has made it useful to study each
MATERIAL working condition separately and prescribe suitable material for best results in each
different case.We offer a full range of Natural and Synthetic Rubbers for diversified
applications and to suit individual requirements.
GROOVE SIZES Normal groove sizes for different sizes and different applications can be suggested
by us on request. These have been worked out and we expect to print the catalogues
very soon.
STATIC The designer must take care in specifying the tolerance so that minimum squeeze on
APPLICATION ring section and maximum diametral clearances indicated in the tables are not
exceeded.
DYNAMIC Greater friction and wear will be the result of excessive squeeze on the ring. However,
APPLICATIONS excessive clearance in metal parts will result in extrusion of the 'O' Ring under
TECHNICAL pressure.
SERVICE
Our engineers and chemists are always available without any obligation whatsoever,
to guide the Customers in every way.
Kindly send us full drawings of the parts, showing space available to enable us of
being help. You may please indicate whether you are willing to change the metal
parts, if necessary, to provide housing etc.The direction of fluid pressure may also be
indicated as also a brief description of the mechanism.
1. Fluid to be sealed,
2. Nature of application,
3. Lubricant used,
4. Minimum quantity required,
5. Working temperature,
6. Minimum and Maximum as also working fluid pressure,
7. Speed of shaft or frequency of reciprocating parts; and
8. Type of finish on metal parts.
We manufacture sockets, sleeves caps and knobs from various grades of plastics - both injection as
well as compression moulded.
