Installation - use
Install the voltage regulator in a dry and not dusty site, be sure that there is a free air flow
through the vents.
Before connecting the voltage regulator, check that it has not suffered any
damage during the transport, and check that the input voltage corresponds
to the one shown on the data plate.
device (thermal or thermal mgnetic) having a size suitable for the current
of the loads connected/max. output current (see on section "technical
characteristics" or the unit data plate).
The output line has been protected against possible short circuits by
means of three fuses (100A).
Connect the input line to the terminal board (10) (input terminals U1 V1 W1 N1)by
means of cables having a section suitable to the max. input current (see on section
"technical characteristics" or the unit data plate).
Connect the output line to the terminal board (11) (output terminals U2 V2 W2 N2) by
means of cables having a section suitable to the max. output current (see on section
"technical characteristics" or the unit data plate).
Connect the ground to the terminal marked PE (12) by means of a single-pole cable
suitable to the plant characteristics (see Standards IEC/EN 60439-1).
Supply the voltage regulator and check on the voltmeter (2) the value of the stabilized
output voltage between the three phases and the neutral.

Troubleshooting
The troubles usually occur on one phase only; sometimes, however, also the other
two phases may be damaged; therefore, it is necessary to check everything carefully
during repair.
The following list describes some of the most common troubles and the necessary
directions to solve them; of course, everything refers to one phase only.
2 The output voltage between phase and neutral is not at the nominal value:
- Check that there is input voltage between phase and neutral and within the
accepted limits.
- If no positive results are obtained, replace the control unit (14).
3 The pilot lamp (4) does not light up and the pointer of the voltmeter (2) does not
move:
- Check that the pilot lamp (4) is not burnt; if it is, replace it.
- Check the good operation of the voltmeter (2).
4 The voltage regulator does not stabilize the output voltage (with the right supply):
- Check that there is no obstruction to the free movement of the brushes (7) on the
variable autotransformer (5).
- Check the efficiency of the transmission between the servo driven motor (6) and
the brushes (7) of the variable autotransformer (5).

Periodical maintenance and
brush replacement directions
The appliance does not need particular maintenance or greasing of the moving parts.
However, every six months of operation, it is advisable to behave as follows:
- Disconnect the unit from the mains.
- clean the internal components (by means of compressed air).
- Check the brushes may freely move on their pins (see on picture no. 1), are not
badly worn and there is no arcing (see on picture no. 2).
If burning troubles are found, and before replacing the brushes, clean the variable
autotransformer tracks as follows:
a) Move the brush holder downwards.
b) Clean the upper section of the variable autotransformer by means of a cotton
wool soaked into denatured ethyl alcohol.
c) Move the brush holder upwards and then clean the lower section.
d) Replace the brushes (see directions of next pages).

controllo (14).
