Analysis of Computer Fashion Illustration’s Prospects

Abstract

This paper mainly discusses the creation of Computer Fashion Illustration; Tools of creating Computer Fashion Illustration; the
comparative analysis between traditional fashion illustration and Computer Fashion Illustration. Finally in the informationalized
era, the Computer Fashion Illustration will have a vigorous prospect. I hope this article would provide for confidence and
strength to engage people who aspiring in creating Computer Fashion Illustration.

The Emerge of Computer Fashion Illustration

The appearance of Fashion Illustration isn’t used for the appreciation of fashion people but for advertising of new
fashion clothing which is produced by the manufacturers in the ages the camera hasn’t been invented. Fashion
Illustration becomes an independent art category at the end of the nineteenth Century and the beginning of twentieth
Century, during which a large number of artists emerged.
In the traditional paper intermediary era, fashion magazine is the main carrier of Fashion Illustration. At that time
there are a lot of Fashion Illustrators emerge: George BarbierǃRené GruauǃDavid Downton and so on, whose
works amazing generations of fashion followers . (Fig.1).
In 1980s, with the development of computer technology, some European and American computer loving young
artists paint fashion illustration with AI, PS and other graphics software. Those Computer Illustrations are published
on fashion magazines or fashionable commercial posters. (Fig.2) During this time Computer Fashion Illustration and
Fashion Illustration which is drawn by traditional materials in the paper intermediary each account for half of the
country.

At the beginning of twenty-first Century, with the update of mobile terminal equipment of the Internet technology,
the Internet has subverted the traditional media to make orders of fashion magazines dropped. The main carrier of
Fashion Illustration has changed from paper intermediary into the electronic magazine, a variety of fashion websites
or major E-business platform.
The Computer Fashion Illustration which is drawn by the computer is a product of the development of history. It
quickly and effectively becomes the main way to express fashion image.

Tools of drawing Computer Fashion Illustration s

The rapid development of electronic communication technology and portable mobile terminal equipment makes
the advantage of traditional media disappeared. The spring of Computer fashion Illustration is coming .
Computer software developers constantly improve the performance of painting software, as well as the
corresponding accessories -hand-painted plate, (such as Wacom).And the Apple develops IPad Pro combined with
Apple pencil make fashion illustrator more freely in the creation .
There are several main softwares to draw Computer Fashion Illustration.
Photoshop, Painter which make bitmap.
Software which Makes bitmap graphics, it can’t arbitrarily change the pixel but has a powerful brush tool can
simulate a variety of traditional painting style, and the different styles of brushwork can be mixed together which
produce an unexpected visual effect. Bitmap illustration can be very delicate and realistic, so the color of the skills
mostly uses traditional processing methods.
Bitmap software can not only simulate the traditional drawing tools, but also use the layers, channels, paths,
filters and other tools, which can achieve image synthesis, image editing, color adjustment, color correction and
image effects and so on, through which makes the works very expressive.
Illustrator, Coreldraw, Flash make vector graphics;
Vector graphic software uses straight line and curve to describe the image. Vector graphic has no relationship
with pixel, so you can zoom it in or out freely without distortion. The fashion Illustration drawn by Vector graphics
software is simple, generous, color contrast, strong sense of form and so on.
3DMax and Maya make three-dimensional graphics modeling.

3D modeling software builds virtual 3D image on the computer. Illustrator can design a lot of scene and visual effect
which we are impossible to see in reality. Through this kind of software illustrators can play powerful and
unconstrained imagination. [1]

The characteristics of Computer Fashion Illustration

Compared with the Fashion Illustration drawn by traditional painting materials and painting tools, Computer
Fashion Illustration has more obvious advantages:
It saves time and money.
Brushes, paint, drawing paper, drawing board etc., all those materials and tools need time to purchase and
preparation before the creation of painting traditional fashion illustration. But all of these materials and tools are
available in the computer. The traditional fashion illustration needs to be redrawn in the wrong, but the computer
fashion illustration without the need to be replaced the paper or re toned or cleaned brushes .Computer fashion
Illustration can be restored and modified easily, even after dark can also be drawn, which greatly improves the
efficiency of the creator.
More easy to be carried and stored.
The paper painting or magazine is the main carrier of traditional fashion illustration. If you want to keep the
traditional fashion illustration in good condition, not only the paper painting or magazine can’t be fold by pressure,
but also need to be paid attention to anti moth, anti damp and mildew. But the Computer Fashion Illustration can be
ignored the above problems, because it can be stored in the form of data in flash disk, mobile hard disk or cloud
space.
More convenient for people to enjoy
Through the mobile terminal equipment people can cost very little flow to be able to get to the fashion illustration
fast for appreciation, and when you want to see you can obtain it out at any time. So the traditional fashion magazine
is very easy to be thrown into the edge of the history because of the slow update, high price and inconvenience to
carry.˷2˹

The future of Computer Fashion Illustration

Computer Fashion Illustration is based on the characteristics of the original traditional fashion illustration and
joined the digital elements of fashion, which satisfies the aesthetic pursuit of consumers at present, so more and
more young people love fashion illustration created by digital technology. People can feel the new super reality in
the virtual world, which makes the Computer Fashion Illustration more widely used. Computer Fashion Illustration
develops particularly rapidly in the United States, Japan, South Korea and other art creation more developed
countries. As a result of the Computer Fashion Illustration is a digital art creation created by the computer and other
digital technology, so which attracts a lot of young people's participation. In recent years, digital film, digital games
become very popular. Young people are more likely to accept this mode of transmission. Digital culture gradually
comes to dominate the current trend. Artists create works which could maximize people's attention in the shortest
time. The unique charm of Computer Fashion Illustration is more and more recognized and loved by people, and
then which is used in a variety of commercial design and becomes a popular trend in the fashion world. So it also
brings infinite business opportunities. Computer Fashion Illustration shows its unique artistic charm and unique
value in a new way. With the rapid development of today's digital technology, the Computer Fashion Illustration is
changing the traditional way of fashion illustration creation with its innovative attitude.[3]
However, no matter how the development of digital technology, and how to improve the drawing software, the
creativity of Computer Fashion Illustration is still very important. Excellent computer fashion artist, he is not only
relying on the advanced digital means, but also the unique inspiration and ideas. As Chinese magician Qian Liu
says ˈ a good magician does not lie on how flexible his fingers and the gorgeous props, but more important is the
magician's own creative value.

Summary

Modern time is an informationalized era, people do works, shopping, finance, entertainment, and communication
with mobile Internet. Information tends to be the dominant culture in contemporary trends, so the aesthetic concepts
are bound to change continuously. I believe that with the upgrade of the development of networking technology,
Computer Fashion Illustration inevitably has broader creation space with the development of the digital technique,
which will bring the magnificent visual experience to people and meet people's aesthetic needs greatly. The
Computer Fashion Illustration will be showing a full of vigorous prospect.
