- Prior to the activity, pictures of people performing various

activities (ie. showing signs of life) are added to the construction
- Invite the children to look at the picture and identify why people
can do these various activities. Pictures of people completing

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

- Once the children are aware of the activity and have discussed all

- Play reflective music to enable the children to settle.
- Invite the children to listen to the sound of their breathing and try
to make it soft and slow.
- Ask the children to try to find a partner’s pulse and to think
whether the pulse is:
• fast or slow
• strong or weak.
- Using lively music, lead the children through an aerobic exercise,

whilst making a puppet also perform these exercises.
- Invite the children to:
• listen to their breathing
• feel each other’s pulse
• check for a pulse and heartbeat on the puppet.
- In a class circle, share the changes that took place within
themselves and in the puppet.
- Teacher using questions such as…
• Why do you think our breathing changed from slow to

• What changes did you notice in the puppet?
• What makes you different from the puppet?

- Once the teacher is happy and all the students have shown they
